Haven't heard the Frampton version but I just know it won't be as good as Clapton or Prince.

OK, I'm done, so please forgive me if I tell handy my Clapton story : īn the summer of '74 I was a student in London and was going to hitchhike across the US with my flatmate, Tony, in our summer vacation. Tony was a diehard Clapton fan and as a 16 yr old had actually been at the Cream farewell concert at the Albert Hall in '68 (the live Crossroads solo is still my favourite Clapton solo). Our trip was to start in NYC and Tony discovered Clapton was playing that weekend in New Jersey, I think with Delaney & Bonnie, but we just couldn't get tickets.

One evening a couple of weeks before departure, I answered our phone and an unknown voice asked for Tony. I heard Tony giving short answers, including our names to this unknown caller, who he was thanking profusely. It turned out Tony had written to Clapton via his record company's London office asking if there was any way we could get tickets as it "would make an old fan really happy". The guy on the phone was the tour manager and 3 weeks later we were at the Roosevelt Stadium to see Clapton on a warm Jersey City night !

We also saw Bowie (Diamond Dogs tour) at the Greek Theatre venue in LA 3 months later at the end of an utterly amazing trip.

jtrade - I'm a drummer and I've played support band to Cream twice in London (a lot of years ago that was). Also once with Jimi Hendrix and once with Georgie Fame. Played regularly supporting John Mayall's BluesBreakers.

Holy Toledo - not only that, but I was a very much failed teenage drummer., but my drumset was the other half of the "Ginger Baker imitation set" used by the school band that became Genesis & "Blues from Laurel Canyon" was one of the first blues albums I bought & we actually drove up Laurel Canyon on that '74 trip because of it !! You couldn't make this up...

If you're in or near London, I'll buy you a coffee next time I'm over (late summer).

Bonham, Moon and Mitch Mitchell because those 3 changed the whole way drums were played.
