{quote} 50 EMA in small time frame is reliable. Also, keep in mind, any PA below daily open is bearish candle, and PA above daily open is bullish candle. This strategy works. Keep in mind, no system is 100 % perfect. One should know to work with the system. If your stop was hit in short trade, ( You kept a stop at wrong place ) why you did not take long trade?

Stop is at the opposite side of the range..therefore it is SL.

I traded last week two sides of the range and lost twice as much...look at my charts from last week...

Anyway..GL to ALL!!

Keeping the stop opposite side of the box is not at all a good idea.

Once known, the trade is not going in your favor, find a good place to sop it.

i see eagle85 has drawn the 4hr box from 21:00 GMT to 1:00 GMT

iam based here in london and my understanding is to draw the 4hr box from 22:00 GMT to 2:00 GMT. and that has been confirmed by fxmd also.

so iam wondering which one is correct ?

i have tried this system as per the rules as a set and forget strategy. we cannot stay awake to monitor the trades , here in london, because we are asleep at these times. often i have woken up to find both the buy and sell orders were triggered and both stopped out. this can be a huge problem with this strategy, unless one can stay awake to monitor the trades.

after several weeks of trying this method , it seems this strategy will not be profitable in the long run, if following the rules as they are. there is no certainty and indeed you may get lucky and have 3-4 wins in a row , but then you can have 5 days of losses, and this will wipe out all the wins. its just taking chances.

unless you can manage and monitor the trades. like some of you are already doing.

iam curious to know what rules eagle85 is following, he seems to have tamed it..

Hello whatfx,

Referring to Page 3 - Post 44, Fxmd states "Box must start 2 hours before Asia open and end 2 hours after Asia open, set it accordingly to your MT 4 and/or local timezone". Thus, since Tokyo Forex opens at 23:00 GMT, my daily trade box begins at 21:00 GMT and ends at 01:00 GMT. For further explanation please see Page 32 - Post 627. Whatever success I may have with this strategy is due to keeping focused on price action, attempting to avoid entry and exits during periods of adverse price action such as Forex Factory major financial "red" news announcements, cutting losses short and staying awake. I hope this information is of help.

Best wishes,

Eagle85

Hi Eagle

As I understood, there has been a change in timing due to DLS. Your chart seems to be an hour behind mine and those that are posted here. Don't get me wrong, I have been following this thread since Feb and your results are the closest to mine..

You should only get one trade each day so as to avoid double losers. It’s not worth it to try and get double winners.

Hello wlim001,

You are correct. My daily box chart does begin one hour earlier at 21:00 GMT. I began trading this strategy with the 22:00-02:00 GMT setting last month but switched to the current timing for reasons cited in Post 666 above. Given proper trade management, both methods have proven quite profitable. Congratulations on your success with this amazingly robust method.

Best wishes,
Eagle85

This is where the confusion is coming from - and it is always where the confusion comes from when the timing rules are stipulated the way they are for box breakout methods, over and over and over again, no matter what the actual individual method.

We are in BST just now here in the uk, so to us here, Tokyo Open is Midnight (00:00) uk time.

As I have said previously, I run this indi over the dead air pre-Frankie and I got all the same interminable questions about time. so much so that I changed the way I worded my box parameters.

IMO, the way around the confusion is for FXMD not to give any time limits but to say simply ''X-amount of hours before Tokyo Open running over Y-amount of H1 candles''. Then give a link to the market clock you are using and that's it. You go with that open time, then everyone will open their box at the same time no matter where in the world they are.

{quote}Hi, I tried several things out and believe me, I know what I am doing with the Backtester of MT4. We don't have to discuss if it is good or bad but we should have more or less the same results and unfortunately we don't. I've seen in your printscreen that you are testing 5 hours of drawing the box and you use 1H timeframe. I tried to duplicate all of your settings in the EA but I never had good results. I am very curious about your setfile of the EA. I use the last version of the EA of Stayfoolish. Please, let me know.

Dear friend..... all you have to do is to upload the saved file from the EA. First you have to save the settings from the EA in File \ Open Data Folder \ MQ4 \ Presets

C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\MetaQuotes\Terminal\2010C2441A263399B34F537D91A53AC9\MQL4\Presets

Give it a name, for instance STAYFOOLISH like I did. You can see it in the printscreen
After that, upload this file in this topic.

Manual entries is not an option because I live in Holland and between 22.00 - 02.00 GMT my local time is 00.00 - 04.00 and I prefer to sleep at that time
I am very curious about your settings because I tried several things but I never get the results you have....

So please, upload your settings file in this topic.
Thanks!

FXMD,

My box is based on -2hrs and +2hrs of GMT. Didn’t know how to fix the chart so decided just change the start and stop time to 1 and 5 respectively after the DLS. Is there any change in the time?

It's always the same, lol! Go to any thread featuring a breakout method of any kind (or in fact anything that features a time-factor at all) and you will very quickly come across pages and pages and pages of posts of people trying to figure out how to tell the time.

That's why you make the entry based on what time it is there (wherever there is) and then have them find out what time it is with them, when it is that time there! Ha ha, I just heard several heads explode

Hi, Tokyo opens 00:00 GMT. Use the session window on FF startsite.
Adjust your clock settings for GMT with no DST. And then look at the sessions.
