Evening traders. Wanted to share end-of-the-week insights before new week stats to see if my trades and perception is correct in your eyes.
I've come to the stage where I am no longer losing money trading but not making much profits either. Sort of break-even phase, which I hope is part of the learning curve.

Also, what happened with Friday's candles? Many pairs have long wicks that look like stop-runs or profit taking. (GBP/JPY, GBP/USD, AUD/JPY, AUD/USD, CAD/JPY and so on.)

CAD/JPY:
This is the only pair that I'm having doubts about.

BB: Last month formed a hammer-looking candle at a BB level of support (81.50 - 81.70). That would indicate me that strong momentum down from February is not present anymore and I could investigate this pair further.
B: Three weeks of strong uptrend show me that big boys are at work with this pair, and that is why I took a trade of this pair. The price is near SS bottom right now which is also near Boss resistance level.
W: I entered long on Tuesday, when large bullish outside bar closed above SS and Boss resistance level. My stoploss is below Boss support of 85.50. It is definitely not the best setup, but the higher timeframes look convincing enough to signal long trade.

I like the looks of this pair as well. Yen has been influenced significantly by world events. I will be watching how it does Monday. Maybe look for a lower risk entry on the 4h and join you.

Hello all,

I haven't posted anything in a while, mainly because my two attempts failed miserably and as such i have been reading this thread along with the previous ( which i was doing anyway - but decided to finish prior to trying again)

Now I'm not sure i 'get' it however please let me try an analysis

GBPCAD -

Monthly - based on the fact that we haven't had a monthly lower close the monthly trend is up, however slowly retracing

Just my view.

CADJPY BB, while it is 'hammer-like' candle, it is still not a hammer. Even though the close showing the bounce back of support, I think the momentum of this chart is still read as going downward.

B, going up and stop into 20ema. I think BB and B in different direction is enough for me to leave this pair out of my daily watch list.

W, I did not see any BUOB anywhere for past 5 candle in your chart, nor mine.

This chart did not tell enough of story to buy or sell I think.

  1. The WHOLE TREND is down. My reason is the 20EMA and 63EMA is crossed down.
  2. The IMMEDIATE TREND is up.
  3. 20EMA and 63EMA as Dynamic Resistance.

I don't trade tops and bottoms. For me these days it is all about trend. If a trend did develop downward on a lower timeframe I will consider it. Right now price is at a decision point. Going to break resistance and go up or drop... maybe even sideways. Just going to be watching it for now.

I should clarify.

I want a daily candle to close above that level. Then have price retrace into the shadow to a support level. Then get a candle to initiate a trade. Entry may not be for days.

I have a lot of trouble configuring my MT4 platform to get have the same visual here.
It's okay for 20ema and 63ema moving averages.

But for the configuration of the strat shadow:
I download Ribbon filled 2 * 14
then indicated the attached values
20, 1, 0 (1=exponentiel?)
63, 1, 0

Thank you for the insights, it was a really pleasant surprise to see so much feedback from you guys.

BB chart's slowdown is pretty major to me, which suggests that the big boys are easing off the selling pressure on this pair, as well as other CAD pairs.
Boss has stopped at the EMA, that's correct, but we do not base our trades on moving averages but on price action itself and last three weeks were UP UP UP! However, the retracement into Strat Shadow was why I was doubting if it's worth putting a trade but seeing other CAD pairs getting bought I went for a long to ride the momentum wave. We will see if my predictions were right or wrong later on. Thanks for the feedback again, you saw the things I saw with this trade as well, so I hope good for us!

So I had a cancelled meeting this morning which freed up a few hours I wasn't expecting, so I naturally thought of Yomi.
No, not in that way.

I thought I'll take a look at all his posts again and study those 5 minute charts. I spent an hour looking at them and at 9AM I thought lets have another go.
Although I'm happy on the daily and making good progress I want to try and nail 5 minute PASR again. I see people like Darko making great headway and I must be missing something.

So I sat on my hands watching 12 pairs after the London market had opened looking for the tooth blade structure.
One pair seemed to stand out to me so I took a tiny position in it to see what happens.
Then I took another and low and behold I'm 60 pips richer! 20 on my first entry and 40 on my second.

FYI
The dotted line is London open and the Green line is 9AM (1 hour after open). I didn't want to jump in until the big boys had actioned all their pending orders and decided which way they were going to go, if any.

Life at the hard right edge may yet be in sight.

Just because price is below the EMA's does not mean that we are in downtrend, Strat said it many times that we do not trade moving averages. They lag and if you considered that the uptrend is only present when the price is above the moving averages, you could jump in at the very end of the trend. Price reacted at the Big Boss levels and the immediate price action clearly shows in which direction the Big Boys are looking at. That is how I spot where the price might turn.

If you do not know what SS is, you should re-read Strat's threads. Also, as far as I know, we use different EMA than 63.
