Good evening everyone, I am not sure if I asked you this ( or might not got an answer to my question) but I have a question on "Whats your Routine / Workflow"? I know its a individual thing but I would like to get an idea what you guys / gals do. Start of with the Weekly analysis - Journaling - Watchlist etc... Do you write with pen and paper or digital? I am working on the following approach Weekend - create watchlist (trying evernote at the moment) with Screenshot and S.E.T. Entry. - Journal how was my week before - enter data into edgewonk (journal...

T4i you are definitely on the right track. I write out a plan the Sunday week before trading. I make notes on which pairs are at which levels and could be in play. I used to use Edgewonk but stopped. There is no reason you should not use it if it keeps you consistent. When I start on Monday morning I review what news could be out there that could affect things. I look at the broad market trends. I make a few notes sometimes. I'm already to go to work. I didn't just roll out of bed. I am mentally awake, rested, fed, prepared, phone on silence. At the end of the day often I will take a screen shot of the trade/s and maybe enter some notes both digital and on paper. My guess without knowing exactly what the other traders do is that everyone does some version of this. Routines are also important because they kick in when you happen to not be at your best and are a last defense against the common worst trading mistakes. They also can help you bypass the destructive tendencies that lead to the fear of missing out, over-trading, not being able to take a loss, not being able to execute the plan, and not being able to pay yourself as the market makes money available. There are some good free resources out there too which you should adapt to what you need based on your own analysis. Dr. Brett Steenbarger (Daily Trading Coach) and Dr. Van Tharp have some good resources here and some of them are free. Just make sure what your doing is fitting you. There are also things these authors and speakers present that I do not agree with.
Do your time and enjoy the ride...

Hi Good Fortune,

thank you very much on your insight that gives me a good idea where I need to go.
Dr. Brett Steenbarger (Daily Trading Coach) and Dr. Van Tharp are on my book list. I need to first finish "The Art of War" and "Market Mind Games".

Hello everyone. I would like to discuss a topic again with you all, one that is a constant source of division amongst traders. I refer to that 6 letter word....TRENDS, from the perspective of their impact on profitability relative to position sizing. There is a prevalent school of thought that traders can only be profitable trading big trends like daily and weekly trends. Whilst I agree bigger trends could potentially give bigger profits, at the end of the day, that in itself is dependent on the level of skill of the trader and importantly, their...

"Whilst I agree bigger trends could potentially give bigger profits, at the end of the day, that in itself is dependent on the level of skill of the trader and importantly, their position sizes, more than how long the trend has been in place.

I know traders who trade 15min, 5min, trends who have done well for themselves and continue to. They were able to develop the required skill to trade these trends, including the mindset required in that process.

The thing about trends is that no trader makes money without them. From the minute a trader places a trade, he needs a trend to develop in his direction to be profitable.

The amount of money he/she makes is partly dependent on the size of the trend the trader trades, but more importantly, profit is largely determined by the position size deployed, more than how long the trader stays with the trend or how big a trend is.

Depending on the position size, a small move could result in a large profit for the trader, a profit that another trader staying with a trend but with a small position size is not likely to have.

Certainly a trader trading daily trends technically is more likely to make more money than the trader trading a 5 minute trend.
However, if we think about it more in-depth, the amount of money made in real terms will depend on the position size the trader used when placing the trade."

I dont understand how bigger time frame can give you more profit if your %stoploss same as if u trade it on low time frame, and r/r are same
on lower tfs more opportunity then on higher, am i missing something?
