This statement is actually misleading. The truth is, in order to master this game, you must have an edge. Every edge includes losses. As long as your losses exceed your profits, you do not have an edge. You have to think beyond losses in order to make a profit. Thinking about losses is a psychological trap as much as not taking them into account is a strategic mistake, eroding the edge.

P.S. Find your edge. Let the teacher go. Go your own way.

And I've been the other side of your bets, over many, many years, which trumps your continual failed experience. There’s lots of tricks we got up to, using virtual plug ins etc., but chasing your individual stops wasn’t one of them.

The best thing i do it's just visualization of my loss in head before i open a trade. You see if you can't lose trade in your mind, probably you will not in actual way so.
Therefore "during" and "after" will not bother you if you handle "before".

I know it very well that forex is a zero sum game where I will face many situations to accept my losses as well as my failure. So, I try to never give up with the mindset that I have to buck up with full cautions and just right strategies next time. And obviously consistent profit is the best thing and I try to maintain consistency. However, for maintain a consistent stream of profit I like to trade with smaller amount.

Because I will limitmy FF posts to the absolute minimum, here is something about the brokers you can do.

1. use only the bid price. ask price is used only when a sell order tp is reached. in all other ocasions i totally ignore the ask rice.

2. never use any pending orders or stop losses whatsoever. spread widening might trigger a new order or close an open one, without the price even being there, in a first place. use market orders instead. close at market price when trade is opened in the wrong direction. make a simple EA or a script to make it use only the bid price.

3. find a way to move your trades near tops and/or bottoms. brokers, LPs, bankers will be completely helpless against that kind of market orders position open/close. i know trading gurus and books keep silence about tops and bottoms... that is exactly why you should make a research into that direction. if you are smart enough, you will find at least one solution. I am effectively using about 5 unique approaches, each having over hundreds of possibilities. my head explodes... i am sure, if you dive in there? you will find at least one. that is all you need... it took me 4+ years, if that matters. but my iq is 75... if you find something - do not share it publicly. it is yours. capitalize it.

I just want to be sure I understand. Are you 2 advocating that Stop loss of any type, no matter the the trading method IS NOT a good idea?

I can speak only for myself. I say once in trade, accepting a SL and stopping right there is nothing far from trading style for morons. Why? Because if one knew about the rates application sequences you would not do that in a forst place.

My advise is once entering the market, do the chase until is over. Switch directions and do not stay on the same levels while you are doing it. Move away from the center.

2. Have a strategy you no longer question which means you are no longer searching for a strategy. If you are still searching and trading live then your losses will be difficult to deal with.
3. Determine your R:R and stick with it. This means your unquestioned strategy will also include determing when a trade is likely to fullfill your predetermined R:R. Not all “entry setups” will be destined to meet yourR:R.
4. Since you have a strategy that you no longer question and based on this you have a solid R:R then every entry should be done with a predetermined profit target and stop loss and this should not be second-guessed once the market is entered. Write the check and leave it...win or lose.
5. By doing the above you can keep an objective record of trades that is easy to evaluate and then if something is not going right it will be easier to make corrections.
6. If you second guess your entries and exit early or tak profit early then you will always handle your losses poorly and furthermore you will not be able to objectively evaluate your wins not to mention your losses.

That is a interesting theory. I can understand your mode of thinking. In the attached photo is when the CHF dropped in January 2015 killed many traders as well as brokers around the world when the the Swiss decided to unpeg the Franc from the Euro. As you can see, the previous 5 and half months was a nice up trend. Now before that drop, it looks like price may have been petering out but of course hind site is 20/20. While I have no idea how you trade, from my experience it seems at that point and time you would either be long or not in at all. So if you WHERE long in that situation, how would you have saved yourself from that 1900 pip drop without a stop-loss?
