Help Needed to Debug Existing EA with proven strategy

I don't think you understand how the logic of this EA works - the logic got nothing to do with ignoring tops and bottoms and what centre are you talking about???

I have tried trading Tictac-nur EA in one chart as a Seller and on another chart I ran the Forex RM Buyer v1.1. Tictac-nur EA cannot work together with the other EA, it got confused with the buy orders opened by the other EA. I am not a coder, so, I don't know why the EA behave in that way. May be Tictac-nur can enlightened us on this???

I am amazed reading all these posts on this thread and how things are evolving. I suggest we don't lose focus on the original idea. I am finding that we are going all over the place without proving or disproving anything which can solidify and build confidence.

I have asked this before and asking this again...where do you believe is the edge? You have always believed it be a bad idea to enter "Buy" and "Sell" together...and now it seems like you think that is the way to go...as if solution of everything.

I have always believed (while being open to be wrong) that the tool you have suggested is clearly a direction biased....I meant that if you get your direction right, you will profit...if you get your direction wrong...you will lose....I still believe the same. Also IMO your DEMO account has confirmed this. I also believe you have started to agree to this as well since now you want to run the EA's in both directions.

There are many many strategies about running "Buy" and "Sell" together....I have yet to come across 1 that has any edge.

Now just focusing with 100% open mind on what you are suggesting now.....Lets say you run the "Buy" and "Sell" EA at the same time. Can you provide an example of a scenario on your preferred GBPJPY pair which moves around 150 pips average daily. You can random pick any day in last 1 year...and start seeing visually how running Buy and Sell EA at the same time will perform. Based on what I see when I do this visually and based on everything I understand of this strategy....you are only either losing or breaking even! If you gather bigger data of like 30 day...then loss is the only outcome I see.

Please show me how what I am suggesting is not correct? I wish I am wrong.

Hi Hhilip, my first post here, cant you get the new tick tac EA and either put it on two charts with 2x different magic numbers, or just use the same EA on one chart with both buy and sell enabled, tic said after take profit no more orders? or if this is not the case use tic tac on one chart with both buy and sell with equity ea, just a few ideas

I have Tictac-nur ea setup on buy and sell on eurjpy using default settings. one buy and one sell with different magic numbers. No trades yet and have equity sentry plumbed in as well.

So,what would be the pip target to close for equity of both ea's ?

Philip, you made me laugh big time. I take it the fault is fully in me, cause I did not explain to correctly.

You want to get away, stay away or move away from the center, the small range centers, and move your orders somewhere around tops and bottoms where the whether is not so stormy...

There are over 5-6, maybe even a lot more, basic techniques of positioning around tops/bottoms. It is for you to think and find at least one. Once you find one, more ways will show off. The results can be quite different, depending on what you have discovered.

Just think for one second what would have happened to the demo account if we had ran BOTH the Buyer and Seller??? I have to agree with Oyaks that the other leg would have made a killing due to the very nature of how the EA trades. Anyway Yal, please don't take the on going Demo Account as the yardstick to measure the validity of this strategy - as I have stated repeatedly, at the end of the day, I would not trade it that way (and nobody should ie letting it run blindly like that cycles after cycles), I would only use it as a tool to trade one cycle at a time as you have stated rightly that once we got the direction roughly right, this tool would be highly effective in assisting us to ensure that the trade we entered would end up in profit. I am repeating myself here, I have stated this so many times already. Righly, I should stop the demo account as it is not serving the real purpose of having started this thread - by pushing it to the limits - it had already produced the numerous live examples which I have shared last night to vindicate the fact that the EA can hunt/seek out the bottoms/tops of a ranging market very effectively and that a spiral death dive of 200 plus pips is not as painful as I (I guess both of us) had feared/imagined - the demo account had already served its purpose as I write now. Just for your info Yal, I had not bothered to analyse whether to change the Buyer or Seller since I started it on Monday - I could not be bothered because I already got what I wanted from the demo test.

Yal, I am not saying trading both the Buyer and Seller will work at this juncture because we have not tested out the theory yet. That's why I am so restless now because I do not have the tool to test it. But Yal, theoretically it should work - in reality I may be proved wrong - but allow me to explain it theoretically:

You see, as you can observe Yal from all the live examples I have given above, when the price moves against us, only certain levels got triggered, NOT all the levels but the opposite is NOT true - when the price moves in our favour - EVERY single level will be triggered and this should eventually overwhelm the other side. The point to bear in mind is when we run them concurrently, the leg which is in our favour are being opened at the same time and same level as the odd ones being triggered on the other leg and as they go along, they would semi-cancel/hedge each other out but more in favour of the leg in favour. This can further be improved on by tweaking the settings. To test the theory by trading both legs on gbpjpy, I would like to try out the following settings -

1. Depth between First Order and sub order - 20 to 25 pips
2. Depth between the sub orders - 10 pips
3. SL of First Order - 10 to 15 pips
4. Universal TP on BOTH the legs - will need to observe first

In a situation where the price zig zagging endlessly would cause drawdown and a deadlock maybe up to a few days but when the price broke out and move in one direction without much retrace, theoretically the cycle should close in profit.

The caveat to this way of trading both legs is that it can only be traded on volatile pairs - my choice would be gbpjpy.

FORGET about trading it on multiple pairs simultaneously - the most I would say 2 or 3 pairs simultaneously.

As for focusing on the original idea - 100% agree - all of you should also test Tictac-nur EA and report any bugs and we sort it out together here. Don't just wait for me to do the test - I am testing it now as I write and will report any bugs.

Again Yal, even if all the excitement produces nothing at the end of the day - the original intention and purpose of starting this thread has largely been fulfilled now even as I write and I would be very happy and grateful for that - I would dearly like to have the debugged Forex RM Seller v1.1 as well if Marty could so kindly debug it for us.

In fact Yal, if we had traded both legs together, the worst case scenario that you had described (sub order triggered but price reverses and dip 200 pips in the opposite direction) would immediately produce handsome profits for us. Think about it Yal!!!

Rockit, it seems that the TP is separated for the Buyer and the Seller - Rockit, can you simply change the TP to take into consideration the overall position of BOTH the Buyer and the Seller instead of separately???

Your original EA‘s is directional bias.

The way i see it, once the cycle is complete, execute ExpertRemove() from the chart. Don’t reissue fresh order programmatically. Your first order will always human intervention.. anyway, it just my opinion.

As for now, I will refrain from making any further comments on the new developments as I want to focus on testing Tictac-nur EA V2.0 and lets get the EA perfected first. I will start a new thread on the new developments after we have ironed out all the bugs here hopefully in a few days' time.

I will write a conclusion on this thread when we have a perfected EA.

There is an obvious bug in your EA - everytime when I change the time frame and or change the EA settings, the EA will start a fresh set of orders. Apart from that it seems to be working properly although I could not test it thoroughly because the market was quiet. Will keep testing and reporting.

V2.0 of your EA seems to be working well - I tried it whole day and it made 3 trades - all ended up pretty quickly in profit of arund $107 each - ha ha ha, just like to had described it - like an ATM!!! Just type in $100 and in 5 minutes time, there you have it $100!

Tictac, after the one cycle closed in profit, how do I turn it on again??? Do I just go to the settings and then close it back or do I go to the main 'auto trading' button to turn it off and on again?

Also what is the function of BE underneath the trailing stop setting?

Hairi, i am getting tired of repeating myself. The EA is not supposed to be operated in a set-and-forget mode trading cycles after cycles blindly. It is supposed to be a trading tool - suppose to do one cycle at a time. Do your analysis/filtering, then enter the trade with the assistance of the EA.

I will refrain from commenting on the new developments. When I answered Yal above, I meant that in that worst case scenario, the EA would have produced a profit if we had traded the other leg as well - please don't take my comment out of that context.

I can see that you are also a coder, hope you can join us when I start the new thread to talk about the new developments based on this EA.

Hi, yes I know that. I have not programmed it to look for already existing positions after deinit/init (for the strategy is not exactly dependent on the time frame); also it opens positions on the next tick instead of immediately. If you want, I can correct that (for there are others to provide you already).

Now, regarding testing: You know there is a tester built into that freaky MT4? Therefore you can test any expert, at any time, on past data, also visually, and see outright if it works alright (and how it performs). There you can also see that the strategy is not exactly profitable - in live you may see the closed-in profit trades, but at the same time losses from open positions are mounting.. Your strategy is basically a grid, and grids (grid strategies) are not known to work.
