This week have not been easy trading, Price have been pulling up/fall earlier, what usually, and i havent take trades where is too much risk to fall or go up more.
i dont know is it somekind of nervouness of markets (bigger players do entries earlier than usually). Today i was watching JPY pairs, and could get few entries. there are coming some news from japan at weekend, i wouldnt like to end keeping position open over weekend, was carefull.

I think its not favourable trading enviroment currently.

your approach is good, trading less, my humble opinion.

there is nothing special about this chart, really, so why to post it?

time to time i feel to bang my head to the wall.
this is a smaple of that.
GJ had a grand day, without apparent reasons. no high impact news that i am aware of.
so, apart from 2 small bites earlier, when the chance came again, about +200 pips up for the day, and what seemed to be a breakout that shouldnt get too far without testing back, i jumped in.
GBP was overextended in many ways, not only RSI, and there was a prior high at 149.38 that out to hold back things, right?
wrong on that.
the price despite all the things pointing to an inpending pullback, was heading up, almost a good 60 pips before start to flat out a little.
was time to regroup, start to lower exposure, as the working drawdown went to about as high as 2%...yep, far from alarm bells ringing, but with the current drawdown still playing on my mind, not something i want to get out of hand.

with ADR approx 2x the day, i knew that likely the worst place to start to get out around, but there is some "fear" factor ( for better word for it) when it isnt clear that despite the signs why the things are shooting up so much against me.
thus chose bailing out, with slippage and all in the end giving up a small chunk of the profits booked earlier, too.

all along feeling/knowing that the trade itself was right.
but sometimes it isnt about being right.
there is always another trade there.
i can be right but can make a timing error.
or a sizing one.
or maybe even a timing and sizing both together.
or just be oblivious to some fact that others are aware of, and ignoring it may get me to the wrong side of the trade. RSI has it limitations, and not -by far- a holy grail indi by itself, more like an overview.

of course, all along closing i felt that being shaken out, and it turned out that the market a mere 10 min later broke down and would give me a great day.
thus the head banging.
patience plus smaller position size would help. ( even though my current position size is still approx 20% lower than used before get into the current hole).
it is a lesson to self, but maybe some of the readers also find value reading it.
being right about the direction is one thing, but being able to stay with that belief, comfortable, and time the move spot on that lead to the profit.

anyway, the new trading week is on, and the main account is up +0.09%...a start. could be a lot better ( and is on some my my other accounts) but could be worse day too...but feels once in a while to do a little end of the day summary.

And it could have gone the other way as well, and pretty quick as you were quite leveraged at that point.
And you would have been even deeper in your emotions.
It was risky moment, and you salvaged the day in a very simple and efficient way.

The reality of it, from my modest unexperienced point of view, is that you had one day of full equity stop, followed by another day of around 60% of equity stop.
That came just when you were "flying" with new business oportunities.
Bad luck, but nothing you can do about it.
As you always say: this is the long term that counts!!

You said it at the beginning of your thread as well: despite months of no losing day (not a single one, how awesome was that!!), it is possible that 2 full equity stop will happen in a raw, and there is nothing you can do about it...

Well here we go, even it wasn't 2 full in that case, but not that far.

You are just shaken up (and it is a good thing in a way!!! The proof that you care and are human :0) and your clients must be confused whereas there is nothing really surprising if everyone interested take some time to understand the way you trade.

Your results are just amazing!!!! Mind blowing!!
But obviously that kinds of results ask for risk.
Even if you have 1000 days without loss, the daily risk is still here (10% equity in your case, and you have proved 3 times already that you can be trusted to honor it. Another good point for you!!).

Anyway, I talk too much.

All in all, from an outsider (as I have no money with you, thus no emotional involvement, even if I obviously wish you the very best), I see a very consistant trader, that can be trusted he will follow his rules, and that has exeptional results, controling well his substantial risk too.
Risk and returns are linked (even if like you, it is done in a very clever way).
Having at some point 140% yearly, risking only 0.2% per trade would be AWESOME... but let's be honest it is very unlikely in the real world.

lol, dont belittle your experience, i dont

sure bad things can and do happen in trading, my emphasis is on keeping the rules, least the major ones, ie. equity SL, even if there is a strong belief that the direction is right.
thus the example the post above, being right, timing wrong...sort of.

for sure, i had some managed account that dashed for the door before the last entry was closed; it is somewhat good that were accounts i was anyway to drop for different reasons.
in the meantime had managed accounts that took a bit to decide, and came to the conclusions that this is trading, and no rules/agreed terms were violated, what is a good ( and not that common thing).
and believe it or not, in talk about some prop firm now ( yes, yet another one!) that seem to be very interested and appreciate the keeping to the rules aspect, as well the drawdown to return ratio....

so, what i meant to say, everyone has a different take on a trading account.
mine ultimately is, that i am trading for a living, and thus want to make a living.
i am, for various reasons, not attaching and/or showing all my trading accounts, the TE only represent part of them.
a reason how my last month ended slightly above BE, and how this month i am already ahead.
it isnt something a gain to brag about, but right now on track to pay my monthly expenses, probably. and that with a drawdown like that earlier, is already not bad.

as for the equity SL, with the last 2 losses, there is a total of 8 losing days now...i know the milestone 10 is closing in, but prefer not to rush it...and every instances were within the -10% limit.
just as above said, i do this for a living, and have a decent 5 digit equity of my own at the frontline. for some not a lot, for me it is, since i am from a very simple background. i am not looking to blow it away in one crazy shot.
the prop managed money is nothing but a potential bonus deal, the icing; also something different, another 'goal', and something i wanted always to learn about peeking behind the scene what it is like. ( so far, after 7 months, i would say a lot less glamorous than most would think, lol).

since i am here, the wrap of the day:
as luck is, today the best opportunity for me happened during the hour i was chatting with these prop guys.
2 small entries, net +7.7 pips, +0.06%...another small step forward.
tomorrow another trading day.

it isnt that bad, really. the distributions of losses not ideal, but that doesnt mean i am in a total emotional limbo.
contrary to what you think, i had a session with Axi/Psy risk management guy too, and we agreed things are on track, and handled as was expected in such situation, really.
but it is a journal, with the good and bad, and cant completely ignore the emotional effects, because that form it would be a lie, and this isnt a thread telling lies!

now that I've read all the thread I'd like to thank you and congratulate you for the effort you put in your journal.

I found the content very valuable and I personally more useful than other threads on FF that simply explain a trading strategy.
In particular, the risk management and small trading part were strong confirmations to me.

Last but not least since I trade manually one of the many variants of the 00-levels strategy, that is a mainly trend following way of trading I have found in your strategy the natural complement to this method, so that usually at the London Open I preferably trade the 00-levels and in the afternoon when some pairs have reached their ADR, I switch your strategy or at least my way of interpreting it, anyway 100 % counter-trend.

The entry signal is given by the RSI and the confirmation by the lines of a CSM.
As for the trade management I use a fixed TP of 5 pips and just like you no SL, but a equity stop of 10% of the account balance.

Of course these rules are not set in stone and there's a lot of discretionary end experience involved there.
Only for the purpose of illustrating what I do I've attached one of the trades I took earlier today, but if you think it clutters your thread I'm ready to remove it immediately.

As a final note, I'd want to add that even if I'm only trading this strategy since one month, I must tell that I feel more comfortable trading this way, I don't know if it's due to the fact that entries seem to have since the very beginning a much greater probability to go to TP or if this depends from the absence of a stoploss that makes me feel better.

Anyway, thank you one more time for posting your experience here at FF.

a good summary generally.
yes, since it is counter trend what i mainly trade, i need a certain part of the ADR move to see to consider an entry.
that filters out that RSI can get easily set of after a flat period of time, something that usually wiser to disregard.
yes, i like to see CSM and RSI to confirm eachother, though in a later stage of the day as things progress some of this can be relaxed a little, and can pay more attention to local support/resistance.
if one note, while risking sometimes to be early, i am more interested in the "right now" of these indis, than waiting to an actual "confirmed" turn around, and risking to be too late and stuck in a continuation phase. of course, timing is always a subjective point, and there is not a single right answer, need a little luck too.
for me, scaling into a position takes some of the need to be always exactly spot on. and of course the added exposure add some downside risk too, again, there is no single one way fir all trade approach...but something that statistically i found to suit me better.

this approach, as you also mentioned, can be an ideal compliment to the 00-level breakout trading that tend to work best earlier during the day.

Yes, once you get the main idea then it's just a matter of finding your own way to trade a strategy.

Differently from you I don't scale into positions (at the moment), therefore I chase for a more precise entry. Then I use mainly M15 period instead of M5, but in the end you gave me the start to begin to trade in a different way from my usual and also if it's an early stage it's going very well.

i am taking a long weekend, thus a little earlier round up for this week (driving all day tomorrow will likely prevent me from trading).

today was a decent trading day, even though i am still a little trigger happy when comes to closing out trades.
on the other hand, for example GJ today, it prevented me from getting married to a position while the price had another 100 pips move lower.
end of the day, it is scalping, right?
here is a chart of it. unfortunate, the last big rebound was already out of my usual trading time, that could be different than all day fighting downward trend.
things sure easier on a more sideways day.



(the other pair i was trading was ECad.)

overall, a good day with +32 pips, that was enough for 0.37%.
the position sizes finally back to the normal range too.
the week ends with +0.87%, not far off from preferred range.

it is clear, that the recovery is still going relative slowly. but steadily.
the month is still down -7.88% on the main account, and it is unlikely that full recovery will be in reach before the end of April.
but yesterday and today finally things are resemble to the usual trading activity, size is back to normal, emotions cautious but clear of any fear, generally on track to make a decent run again, and not at all impossible to reach equity high as well.

for a couple of reasons i have decided to drop my prop account at Fixi for the time being.
it was a good learning experience, and overall i came out of it ahead too.
they are legit when comes to funded account and payment, but there are issues that just bug me, thus my decision.
while i am giving up a huge account there with further potentials, i believe this is ( contrary to what it looks) a good, rational decision.
my personal funds (was a 10k master) from there will be used on some different projects likely, or just added to my other trading accounts.
i am still in the stage when i am trying to compound accounts a bit more, and try to avoid unnecessary withdrawal for living.
even though i somewhat passed the personal fund range outlined in the beginning of the journal as needed to trade for a living or about, it is clear understanding that those numbers are more a base necessity than the final goal. ( the post: https://www.forexfactory.com/showthr...5#post10022005).

the beauty of (forex) trading, it is an ever changing, evolving journey.
right now, there is also a specific goal ( full recovery) to work on, something that helps me to keep things more on track.
it is always good to find something to motivate on the shorter term.
and it will be needed to make another longer term motivation as well, later, if this task completed, but yet to find out a specific one.
my car suits me ok for now, being around the world already some, find lot less interested in travelling...but surely will figure out something.
maybe a condo on the beach, maybe a villa with a pool...LOL, i am light years away from those financially, but sure, long term motivation can be anything...well long term

i had a multitude of issues at different stages, now, the latest is withdrawal...
usually things got fixed after a while, but nevertheless issues are annoying if repetitive.
the last nail was that after recent 2 DD days i contacted the liaison person about the prop account, and ...yes, and nothing.
for me, communication is very important. feedbacks going forward is very important.
also, the trading cost ( full 7$ commission) was not best suiting my scalping style.
I was about to discuss some small changes to go forward, but as i said, the communication side lags there to my liking, and i like to feel comfortable with what i am doing.
of course, if i would to start out right now, i would probably approach them little differently, but then, trading is a constant evolution, the important to learn from the experience, and let that knowledge shape the things to come. it isnt that philosophic as it sounds, lol.

was i classified as a pro trader there?
i cant really answer this, but maybe yes.
after all, i cleared the initial stage with track record, and got funded.
i cleared the first 6 months as funded trader, and got quadrupled prop allocation.
and yes, they pay out, and no, i had no fees to pay, or any other cost associated, apart from the regular deposit fees ( by the bank) of my funds on a master account.

however, weighting every options currently, for the time being, i decided the best suiting me is to withdraw from that program.

i am keeping the Psy/Axi prop program, in fact i will likely add some of my former Fixi money to my Axi account.
i am also in the preliminary stage with another prop firm about trading for them, guess, even despite the current dd, things arent looking bad, least not on a professional level.
( i think i may mentioned before that i had turned down a russian prop firm, cos their offer was generally inferior to any above mentioned).

i keep repeating: there are opportunities out there. plenty, and legit ones too!!
not some smoke and mirror only, like pay for a demo account to qualify.

the key to open them up: TRACK RECORD!
and a consistent one. not only consistent profit, but consistently keeping the rules. all you will talk will admit that it is not an easy task, and all value those who prove they can.

i am by no mean a supertrader, or a "pro" trader, or a coder with the next holy grail.
what i achieved so far that is open to any trader ( with at least 4 digit capital with a legit broker to make a track record).
all this can be done within 9-12 months.
i am the example, and this very journal is the proof.
the journal, apart from passing my time, always intended to show where things can evolve, and to motivate those who seriously have had enough of chasing the unicorns and other wet dreams, and would like to set out to make some money, but have a somewhat limited capital for going full time on their own right at start.
i am one of those, and if i can, everyone else can.

The thing is, i dont care about pips, they are really meaningless in themselves, unless only a single pair traded, and unless only the same lot sizes used.
Maybe it is something new, though i think i mentioned before here and the thread also pretty clear on some points...but then, just for you:
I trade multiple pairs and use variable lot sizes.
( not that many variations usually, but the very first entry on any pair tend to be the a smaller lot entry than the subsequent one/s)

I am sure the broker is happy, generally, having an active, scalping client with 5 digit account maybe their wet dream, (surely better for them than a 0.01 lot swing trader) Nothing new there, really. It is a business for everyone.

What is your minimum wage you are talking about?
I dont know if the concept is new to you, but every country has a different amount, not to mention the few that doesnt even have a minimum wage.
Yes, i know that in trading one can lose. Nothing new, I have been there, or am there, right?
But lets slightly expand on your train of thoughts a little, and toy around with the idea, that there is no job guaranteed to you, to make that minimum or whatever wage.
As long as you have equity, trading has sort of less barriers that the job market that indeed is discriminative of age, race, background, etc.
Not something probably springs to mind of someone like you, with a regular job.
So, what is your minimum wage situation at your place?

(while you think let me give you the local here, where i live: 9 hour workdays, 1 hour lunch break included in, the mimimum wage is 10USD...that is, approx 1.1USD/hour.)

Do you think if i would trade 160 hours, i am able to make that? Scalping or otherwise?
Do you think when on the thread i tell i trade full time, for a living, i only make 160$ a month on average?
Do you think i would settle to make minimum wage to support my family of 3?
Do you think minimum wage would allow vacations?
Really, you want to come thru as a smart person, and i would like to think of you as one...but you dont make my job easy.

And finally, the drawdown.
I highly doubt you would want me to recover from it, it is a lot better for you i am in it, so you can have your childish attacks.

Once again, if you would be here wanting me to succeed in what i do, or supporting me in any way..
You would likely read/know that my timeline to new equity high/drawdown recovery is approx end of April.
That isnt something new i just came up with now, it is a date that has been there.
There is a few reasons behind too, and to benefit you a little, why not see them?
There is the psychological, that was about taking a step back, and restart trading with smaller positions initially...getting back to the bike.
There is the financial, that small break, plus smaller positions( initially) equal slower (initial) recovery time.
And there is the economic, that prop trading has both a monthly and total drawdown limit. And i dont want to hit the monthly limit to be out this month. The next month will give me more room to navigate once again.

One sees things as they want, other maybe see things differently, base on there opinions/take on different facts.
I dont trade only and solely the single account attached to TE.
I am happy ppl has concerns about my well being, if genuine, but I can only report that i am fine in the moment, and even despite the TE account is being down, i didnt have a overall negative month this year, yet.
While wages, minimum or otherwise differ widely around the world, my sole target to earn a living for myself and my family.
This earning may be more or less than some others think about, and that really isnt my concern.
Softly put, i dont give a shit about what others think is enough or not enough to live.
I have my income and i have my expenses, and since the income covers those expenses, and usually a little more too, i am trading for a living, and that is it.
As a bonus, i dont have 8 hours shifts, and boss to put up with. In fact my hours are both lot more flexible than i ever had in my full time worker life, as well a lot less than i used to put in to make a similar living.

I'm dealing with a -1.08% dd since I went live after 5 consecutive winners on demo, so I'm definitely seeing where you're coming from and why you're taking things slow.

for the most part it's not that your method is flawed or you've done something wrong but we as traders sometimes just have to deal with them and will not be able to avoid it fully. Once a dd hits it affects you physiologically you're spot on that, I'm dealing with that myself. But deep down you know you've just hit a minor bump , I wouldn't be here where I am if I hadn't struggled through those minor bumps. I'm learning so much through this process recovering from a DD. And I know you'll be a far efficient trader after this process.

It's the long weekend, I would rather be working for my min wage and I'm sure you do too ! oh the miserable life of full time traders naysayers are just being jealous

it is a slow progress, as my hole is bigger than 1%.
but i see things not that negative.
approx 13 positive trading days stringed together now, and my position sizes are back to the usual too since the past week.
from next week, the prop relate to this account will be also back to normal, and that should help some more with overall profitability too a little.

since i just had a long weekend myself ( last week) not likely to make Easter one too, but then if no trading then no trading.
for me, it helps a lot that the losses were countered by some profits on another account/s, and that while on this particular account i am dealing with a drawdown, on my overall equity i am having a high. that helps to soften the effects, surely.

yesterday+this morning produced so far 0.19%...not much by any means, and some may not approve the per hour impact, but from my point of view it has paid for the last 4 nights in hotel+food, so, i am content with that. but all for their own, i guess.

Even tough you aren't deserve it, you still have an answer about drawdown in the last post for you. (That include about a mention to personal equity).
Not that it matters, but apart from the EurCad, the rest of the CAD pairs has positive stat on trade results.
And funny, you highlight pips, the losing EurCad stat shows +1681 pips.
So, would really the pips count is the holy grail in trading result? Nah, but I have mentioned variable trade sizes, also this account isn't the usual 1 week long demo you so used to see.
Probably thanks to the early hours, and I am grumpier than usually, but I think it is time to deal with you properly, and promote you to my first ever "fan" to be banned.

It is damn early here, and up only for some personal matters.
But then found this extra issue that should!d be dealt with.
But to get something from this useless exchange out to all, I promise a post.
Once properly awake will once again dedicate a post about pips, and how/why they are not the holy grail in forex success.
Probably it was too long ago, and if one missed reading, can't hurt some reminder, right?

Since there is still an inherent confusion among noob or wannabe traders when it comes to pips and profit in trading, and the importance to them to real traders, i will try to show by some examples how things really look and effect one.
It should give some ideas what one may like to look at deciding on a TE or myfxbook stat its worth, or that of the trader behind it.

First of all, it is nice to have positive pip count.
But it isnt in any way an accurate measure of how good the trading is.
Not even if a single pair traded.
Not as long only a single pair traded with a single similar lot size pips get some meaning!!
But then why bother with them really?

The simple answer is not bother with!!
Most traders,myself included, trade multiple instrument.
Especially when i was testing out my strategy, i wanted to try it out across all the instrument.
That, beyond major and minor pairs, included exotics, indices, commodities too.
Prop trading made it necessary to stay focused on majors and minors, but there will soon be clear the point why it is good to have a wider test and proof of strategy.

Lets start with the current stat, after all, the month is over, and walk down to the details....
Unlike the TE, myfxbook does give a bit better overview when additional deposits and withdrawals included.
So here is myfxbook, as of now: ( starting date March 10, 2017)



With the current drawdown and all, i dont think that i should feel shamed about +115% profit. Got little annoyed about RR's idiot post, cos while i respecting Ryan ( cubbybgood) for his videos and openness, my stat doesnt really looks like his...
No doubt, i am currently down, as much as -9.48% for the year, but has seen lot more losses by lot more traders...
Of course, the attacks not stopped there....
So i decided, for the fun of it, to give a little stat to look at, this is the same account, with a full view:

as far as i see, there is 2 pairs that lost money in total, out of what? 39 instruments!!
also, about 3 pairs has negative pips count tally.

but here is something, that should be the real food for thoughts, and hope that this one line of stat will sink home for all who like to count pips:


EurCad.
The picture tells it all.
The answer is so simple: variable lot sizes!!
Simple to write down, but obviously, not that simple to understand, even for so called experienced ones, like RR's example has shown.
PIPS are meaningless in themselves!
When i go to buy my groceries all they care is the money in my wallet!
And so the thing what i and every other full time trader should care! ( even hobby traders, but whatever, they have a wage to fall back too, right?)

There is also another aspect to pips.
Even when same lot sizes used, between different pairs they represent different value.
Another reason why cant really count them as profit measure.
It is very easy to make 100 pips of UsdMxn, vs. UsdJpy, but the 100 pips wont represent the same $ value.
1 pip AudUsd and GbpUsd will also represent different $ value.
Just render the whole pip count to meaningless.

And finally, because it is something that maybe not straightforward to few...i trade other account/s than my TE too.
In fact the bulk of my money in the moment on this account, that part mirror the TE account, part has the "freedom" to trade without the limitations that the TE account has due the prop agreements. (mainly on the drawdown side, per month, and max).



The answer to why my month and year can be negative on the TE account, and still claim to be up for the year overall.

Hope this little presentations helped for those in doubt to understand why it isnt the most important to concentrate on the pips, and why the $ profit is the one and only true measure that a trader can take to shopping in the end of the month!

As for April, it will be hectic at the start, i am moving back to the city to renovate our house there, so, it will surely effect trading some. Eventually it should also add a positive effect, as i will be able to secure a 5x faster main internet connection for the current price i pay. but moving staff, and setting up things may take the first week or even two...

March was showing some progress on digging out from the drawdown, and i intend to continue that work next month.
Contrary what some may try to paint, things arent at all doom and gloom here.
