Hi all,

especially to @mrdfx, @ebeckers

Just sharing a modified version of SDTR EA:

1. Option to use S/R Trailing (Only Daily S/R Trailing)
- When price reaches a S/R Line 1st time, SL will move to middle of upper & lower S/R Line but not more than zigzag SL or fixed SL (depending on your setting)
- When price reaches the middle of upper and lower S/R Lines, move SL to 10 pips below the lower S/R line (when BUY) or 10 pips above the upper S/R line (when SELL)
- When price reaches the next upper S/R (BUY) or lower S/R (SELL), move SL to middle of the upper and lower S/R
It will continue to do this until price hits the SL

2. Disabled "Close Position on Opposite Signal"
-EA will manage the trade until SL or TP is hit

3. Enabled Hedging
-EA is allowed 1 BUY and 1 SELL position at any given time.
-Each position will be managed independently by your preferred trailing or RR method.

4. Added 2 OPTIONAL Filters to HOPEFULLY reduce fakeouts on trending markets without reducing profitability
A. Filter 1 -ZigZag Arrow Outside TMA+CG mladen bands
- Allow trade only when the zigzag arrow is outside the upper / lower band of TMA+CG mladen indicator
B. Filter 2 - TMA+CG mladen and Bollinger Bands
- Allow ONLY BUY when the lower band of TMA+CG mladen is above the middle band of bollinger band (period = 120)
- Allow ONLY SELL when the upper band of TMA+CG mladen is below the middle band of bollinger band
- Allow BOTH BUY AND SELL when the middle band of bollinger is between the upper & lower bands of TMA+CG mladen indicator

Please report bugs. Thanks.

Notes:
a. Please backtest only to check logic, not profitability.
b. This is not my code, but I have the source if this will be included in the official EA
c. TMA+CG mladen indicator repaints
d. I cannot forward test at the moment since my internet connection has high latency and low bandwidth, so I cannot access my VPS


Other suggestion:

Have an RR Filter to only take trades where the Next S/R line is at least 1:1 ratio with the SL distance

It's always good seeing people thinking about an existing strategy/concept plus trying to improve it:

But that's the point indeed - what are your proposals based on ? Why should we expect an improvement of the original strategy ... btw, working now in a good way already longer then a month at a live account ?

So: no offense my friend ... but a more detailed explanation is needed to understand any advantage your code could provide here before running other versions using, who knows why, any other of the zillions indis out there in that fancy and obscure FX market !

It's stated as optional "my friend", because that's what it is. Nobody is forcing you to use it.

I am not changing the entry strategy, just providing an option for the exit and trying to discover a way to prevent the problem with the fakeouts in trending market.

Well, had mrdfx not experimented with these indicators, we would not be profiting from this strategy.

This is my way of contributing to this great thread, and I will do so unless the OP tells me to stop.

Hi,

Maybe there is a bug in the time settings of the EA or in any case I don't understand any of it. Please, look at the printscreen. Of course I have to use the time of my Broker which is 2 hours earlier comparing to my local time. I want to start at 8 Broker time. As you can see in the EA I set it on 8. But why the hell is time settings for USDJPY and EURAUD colored?? In my thoughts the color should be grey at the moment as a sign that it is not allowed yet for trading. Please, I hope that someone can clarify this.

I would like to suggest that maybe using some kind of pairs strength indicator/tool might eliminate some of those loosing trades that try to reverse very strong trends. Recent example GBPCHF trade on 3/23, few strength meters that I looked up show very strong GBP and very weak CHF.

Hi everyone,

This is a great thread and am happy it is sticking to the original trading strategy posted on the first page. Going through the posts it was really interesting to see how the EA developed, ebeckers is doing an incredible job.

I do have one suggestion that I haven’t seen mentioned yet and that has to do with a stop loss based on a specific number of pips. What I mean is the volatility of pairs is quite different and 30pips for say USDJPY much less than say GBPAUD or GBPNZD. Since this system is trading a wide range of pairs the trailing stop, using fixed amount of pips, doesent work the same for each pair.

An example, a 30pip stop in USDJPY is around a 0.3% move but on GBPAUD it is only a 0.16-0.17% move. So while it would give USDJPY some space to move the more volatile GBPAUD would get stopped out by a small pullback. You can also see this if you look at the Average True Range (ATR) of pairs.

Many trend traders use ATR for SL placement and trailing stop because it takes these differences in volatility in to account. A common used method is an initial stop at 2ATR distance from the entry (or high/low) and then a trail it at say 1ATR from the High if it is a sell trade and the opposite for a buy trade.

A nice Trailstop options that I hope makes it in to the future updates is for example a trailing bar SL, so trailing stop at the high of the last 3-25 bars for a sell trade. Another would be when price moves 2RR move SL to 1RR, when price reaches 3RR move SL to 2RR etc. Another would be a trailing MA, that just simply moves the stop to follow a MA, lots (hehe) of possibilities.

Using these types of trail stops will make some good profits when the system picks a turning point and you hit a nice trend. Maybe the win rate will drop a little but the profit per trade will go way up, I mean some trend trading systems only have a 30% win rate but if they hit a 5-10RR winner every now and then they become very profitable.

check this out ,same pair same tf,different broker .see the candlesticks almost different .this is one of the reasons why everyone not getting the same signal

I am not updated on today TMA+CG indicator but anywayI wish to let you know that time ago I tested and found it to be an eavily repainting one.
I suggest employing the indicator I upload hereby.

It's really nice that you guys are starting to contribute to the post, but I think is not really good starting to share new EA's based on this one without proper testing and proof that is in fact, improving the current one.

In my opinion this will only add confusion and at the end, we will have plenty of people using different EA and complaining that they don't get same trades as the other ones, creating a mess, confussion and not helping at all.

From my side, I will just stick to mrdfx/ebeckers EA and .SET files, test them and until someone else comes with a proof that they did improve the current one and we all can allign to test it I think it's the best.

I agree and don't forget, less is more The more (crappy) indicators you use the more confusing it is.
Keep it simple without too many crappy indicators!

hello today EURJPY has been opened on my terminal but i cannot see it on mdfx trade explorer..anyone else got eurjpy trade??

While I like improvements, testing and experimenting, I have to agree with this.

Too many times have I seen threads that lose focus of the original strategy with more and more "improvements" that just turned into confusion until the thread eventually died.

You have the Option "UseSupportResistanceFilter" turned to "false"?
I test various sets and only the versions without "S&R" opened this trade 2 hours ago.

But, as you have read, there are more reasons for different trades like, Broker, Server, Latency etc...
