How to use the POC profitably.
Hello dear traders,
From today's EURUSD, I'd like to show you how Equilibrium (POC) is determined and what happened next.
The first POC was drawn at 12:20 CET, the second POC at 13:00 CET, the third at 13:50 CET and the fourth at 14:00 CET. In the second POC you can see very nicely how the price is in a downtrend. Suddenly a balance develops and then the course breaks down sharply. Therefore, this POC line was a strong resistance for me. The first POC was also strong but not that crucial. Although the 3rd and 4th POC lines are either resistance or support, they had to be watched closely when touched.
The lower POC was a strong resistance zone, let's see where it came from.
On the 25th of January from 21:30 CET the first POC was formed. As you can see, this zone is crucial. When the price went down this morning at 9:30 CET, it was safe to assume that the price had fallen long enough to hold the resistance zone. Let's go back to the chart image.
As you can see, you could have done quite clean 3 trades, even though we were actually moving in a sideways range. 90 Pip is a very good result in 2 hours, especially as there was a risk allocation here. The price was up again to the second resistance level on the first trade, but you would not have made a big loss here. Although the second trade went down about 2 pip, it would have triggered my maximum stop after 4 pip. Nevertheless, it went up 30 pip. The 3rd trade hesitated at the beginning because of the 3rd POC, but then went through cleanly up to take profit. My recommendation: Do not pull take profit up to the resistance level, so you better get something out in advance. The range was always 35 pip, so I only calculated with 30 pip.
Another interesting aspect: the big players. From 09:00 CET to 14:00 CET, the price today was about 60 pip down. At 14:30 CET there was a strong upward movement of 25 pip. Then it went downhill. What happened? A big player had placed a sell order within the 1st POC. At around 14:30 CET, where everyone thought the price was going down again, he gave up a buy order with a take profit at the price level of his sell limit order. The price jumped up, his take profit triggered and at the same time the sell limit order and the price went down automatically. The course came back a bit and was then pushed down by another order. The rest was done by the small players who wanted to go downstairs. So the big player was able to collect 70 pip in 45 minutes. That's not much, but absolutely sufficient for this range. Of course, there are 100 other reasons that may actually have expired, it is important to think about how the big players act. To juggle with 50,000 euros is easy, try that with a few million or billions. You have to be very creative in order to increase the assets of investors and to generate a return of 24% at the end of the year.
You see, it's important to take a closer look and study the big player approach. We can never win against the big players even if all the Forex Factory traders team up. The big ones would just laugh at that. We have only one chance, we can not fight against them, we just have to let them take us away. All we have to do is know where the big ones are going. Learn how to draw the POC correctly and practice it daily. The best total of 10,000 hours, then you are professional. Use indicators to support, but not in the main chart, only your POC counts and what you see.
Once you've found your profitable system, focus on it and forget about the POC. If not, you have a great chance to reach your goal with the POC.

Recommendation: Download a new MT4 on your PC and play first the data in there. Then you can see if there is a crash. This is worthwhile in any case to identify the POC from the past. You get up to 20x more data than before. In the 5 minute area I can go back to 4 years.
I like to upload the TPO indicators, but they do not help me identify the Equilibrium. They only show you in which price range the price has often stayed. That may or may not be the ultimate POC. You can only do that with feeling and experience. As I said, spend 10,000 hours on it and you're a professional. Many traders believe that the indicators help. The fact is that you only need someone to tell you: buy or sell. Since I rely solely on the price chart and what I see. That's faster than any indicator. this thread is fairly interesting. i thought i'd provide some ideas that i personally use. as per my ideas, a level has value once is passes another (low/high) that had value before. also when a level creates a new one and later comes back. the rectangles are there because your lines where there, this the reason for their placement. now my interpretation is this. 1 creates the low 2, it is new but nvm. when we look at it (a) really created the low 2 but at this example 1 was the ultimate force that created it. hence 1 has a high power and (a) has...

First of all thank you for your kind words and your interesting contribution. We all aim to identify the turning points of a small or big trend. As you can see from your example, there are many ways to identify these turning points. You are absolutely right, the momentum of a movement is crucial to locate future turning points.
I myself belong to the visual types who think about pictures. That is why it is crucial for me to understand the course of a trend through images.
Basically, I do not believe in indicators like RSI, Moving Average, MACD and so on. I will also do a post. However, so-called auxiliary indicators facilitate the identification of certain levels. Important: Due to an indicator, I will never start or stop a trade, but always on the basis of my stipulated provisions.
In the following chart, I used two auxiliary indicators that I set at the end.
1. Momentum candles
This indicator filters out the strong momentum of individual candles. Thus, I recognize the balance faster and strong trends up or down.
2. Ticks Separate Volumes
Is actually the same indicator for me, but here the momentum is displayed comparably to each other, since the candles in the chart are positioned at different heights. The settings of the indicators must be adjusted individually here.
Let's take a look at the chart you sent me.
At point 1 you can see very nicely how a big player pushes up the course with strong momentum. Not to turn the trend around, but to buy cheaper again, since the short-term trend is down for now. I did a detailed post on Friday.
After the price went up sharply, it was massively pushed down (by a sell-limit order of the same big player). My red arrow marks the strong momentum. In the chart image, this is difficult to recognize because of the time unit in which a candle is formed. That's why I do not pay attention to candle formations. I have drawn this bearish print with a red background bar. It is now very interesting to see what happens when the course enters this zone. Point 2,3 and 4. The course we rejected and pushed down. This means that here the bears have the helm in their hands. Until the sellers are satisfied and new buyers find their way through the zone.
But where did this bearish pressure come from?
Let's go back in the 5 minute chart until the 25th of January at 19:00 CET. At point 1 there is an equilibrium (purple line). Now the course (red arrow) was pressed down strongly. This was a strong bearish zone for me now. At point 3 there was a pressure upwards. As you can see the course has slowly penetrated into the bearish zone and accelerated at the shot with momentum. At my marked zone he turned and ran down. Every time the bullish momentum course tried to run up, it was rejected because the pressure from above was too high.
To keep the whole thing a bit more detailed, I like to work with an hourly chart.
There I draw in green and red lines. The green lines for strong momentum up, the red for strong momentum down. Now I watch what happens at these crucial zones with the course and can thus draw possible conclusions about future developments. For me, the two green lines mean that the price can turn upwards again.
Of course, in the smaller time units, balances are now crucial. These signal me the entry and exit. The whole thing is a practice thing like everything in the world. Remember, to study a profession, I have to spend at least 10,000 hours. To be professional in it 30,000 hours. It's only a matter of time, nothing more.

Thank you for your question, I recommend you to approach the matter easier. A balance arises in that the market participants (buyers and sellers) are satisfied. Demand and supply are thus balanced. After equilibrium, a pressure on demand or supply arises again. And until it comes to a balance again. This has nothing to do with the different trading venues. The different trading venues have only a different number of traders, which therefore move more or less money.
Let's look at an example:
On January 25, the EURUSD price was pushed down sharply. Looking at the picture, one could assume that the Asian market made sure that the price was pushed up again. In fact, the trigger for that was the US session.
For me, the London and US session is very important to trading. The best time for me in EURUSD is between 07:00 - 11:00 CET and 13:00 - 20:00 CET. There is often higher volatility and volatility is a key to success.
What I pay attention to when there is more volatility in the Asian market than usual on average. That was the case on the 24th / 25th of January. (I had published in a blog) Then the courses in the London session went up massively.
Any pronounced balance can be crucial, no matter what session.
I recommend that you first find out which currency pairs you have the most success with. Which trading style suits you? Can you better go up or down? What time unit is yours, your personal Moneymanagement as well as the chart setting, indicators and much more.

There are different strength indicators. I meant the indicator that I post at the end. I do not work on my main chart. There I only record my POC. The more indicators you use, the more confusing it gets. That's why I set up a screen where I have the most important information at a glance.
They need a lot of performance to work properly. For this you should use a fast i7 processor, a lot of RAM and at least 50 MBit Internet speed, otherwise it will be very slow. This info screen consumes 3 GB of RAM on its own.
However, these indicators are never the basis of my trades. I keep an eye on them from time to time. However, it is also fine without.
