Will retail forex end soon?

What are your opinions? Do you think retail forex is going to end soon in the USA? I know regulators are the driving factor, the last major regulation change was December of 2016 from what I see. So 1 full year without any change. I do see a new broker coming back to the USA too. So I'm just curious what people think. Stocks will be around forever, its a major economical indicator of economy health and helps businesses grow and develope as well its kept in the USA, where as forex is international so harder to control which is why I wonder how long people will think retail forex will be around for? For us traders that is.

The Trump administration would be more likely to remove regulations and restrictions than to add more. Therefore IMO, retail forex will continue at least through his term.

PIP is right. current administration has revocation of dodd frank in sight, if they go thru with it and passes congress. tons of brokers world wide will have access to US markets once again. that said, the biggest of brokers currently in the US are owned by holding companies which spend big money on lobbying. so getting it past congress is going to be an uphill battle.

Let me get this straight. Brokers are siphoning money from clients. US regulatory bodies are implementing policies to protect consumers through cftc and regulations? This regulation includes lowering leverage?

Retail trading will only benefit people with big pockets? And brokers who has deep pockets can offer retail trading for the public?

Ain't private banks with the deepest pockets are already trading against the clients money? I'm lost....

It's not going to end.

Think how much money people could have made in the last 8 years focusing on the market instead of worrying about it being shut down...

The absolute worst case scenario is bucket shop brokers go away and everything is handled on the futures market and there would be mini contracts for all of the crosses just like there are mini contracts for the majors, also liquidity would be 100% transparent. So even the worst case scenario would be good. The only reason I don't trade strictly futures is that they don't offer all the crosses.

That would suck if it were true. I won't spend my time worrying about it though. Besides, if you are a great trader, any liquid market can be traded. There's always stocks, futures, options, etc.

It's not western crap, its globalism/big government crap.

The goal of big government is to create so much regulation that everyone who doesn't work for the government is poor and gets fed by the government, therefore the only thing that needs to exist is the government.

China has thrived over the last few decades because they embrace free markets*/western ideas (I put an astric because China is very corrupt and isn't necessarily a truly free market, but they have more free market characteristics than we do in certain areas) like low tax rates/less regulations, etc.

Another thing I want to say on this topic.

If you think speculation will really be removed from the market, you have absolutely no clue how markets work.

Speculators big and small are a key player in any market because they provide desperately needed liquidity to stabilize market prices and make them more efficient (efficiency is good).

Without speculators, market prices would be so volatile and risky that it would be almost impossible for any normal business to use them in a non-speculative way (mitigating risk, paying employees, locking down prices of resources in the future, etc.), this would also then make businesses themselves very unstable because the prices of goods and services would be constantly changing with huge swings since there is no way to hedge their risk, and the price of cattle would be swinging like Bitcoin. It'd be like McDonald's burgers costing $1.00 one day, and $13.50 the next, then back to $1.50 the next day, etc.

TL;DR

They need us more than we need them...

No. I do not think so. It's not going to end. Yes there will be correction in rules and regulations. But shut down for retail traders is not going to happen. Brokers, institutions are making money with retail traders.

I just watched a video from Anton Kreil, He mentioned about forex being highly regulated in the future. He also speaks that institutions are funding the brokers for leveraging retailers. So if retailers are not leveraged forex becomes very difficult for small retailers. I just watched his video from 2017 and now worried for this. Hope big fellows don't f*** us up.

I wish we could get access to CFDs here in the USA. I would like to speculate on stock indexes, commodities, and treasury bonds with my smaller account. The futures playground is too big for my small account at this time.

No; personally don't think that retail forex will end so soon since when we are investing in one currency we are actually showing our confidence on that economy. So; without taking too much pressure there is no negative thinking that forex trading for small scale traders will come to an end. Yes; it is true that forex is somehow restricted in some smaller nations but as far as it is the case of USA; I don't think anything will happen like this.

you can trade all that and more in the American options market with a small account - usually just 2k minimum for a margin account....
