I can't imagine this is only a rumor, there much be some truth to it.

I rang my broker a few years back to place a trade on EU when I was away from my computer.
He asked for my SL and I declined to put one on.
He then said"If you decide to put one on, give us a call so we can adjust the spread, oh, uh, adjust the trade...(a little Freudian slip)

When I was running an EA in the very early days of my trading, my SL got hit with a 40 pip spike down that was not present on any other platforms I was viewing.
I rang, and they very sheepishly said, oh sometimes we get issues with the bank price feed. This maybe so, or maybe not, but the sheepish tone of his voice was not convincing.

I put the complaint on Forex Peace Army and have not spoken with the offending employee again.
I don't think he works there anymore.
In the early days back around 2007, my platform would freeze quite often around news events and at major turning points in GBPUSD.
I rang them during one of these times to place a trade, they said "no one was available"????
When I asked him "can't you just do it?", he reluctantly agreed.
But, they have different staff now from back then,no freezes and they are very helpful.
No bank price feed problems either...

i had the same issue years ago with forex.com

Yeah, reading other forums and complaints boards, it seems there were lots of broker "issues" back then.
To me it seems their act has been cleaned up though which is good news.
The emergence of more broker competition here in Australia has helped things also

i have more confidence now compared with 10 years ago in dealing with some brokers even here in Australia , you have to be alert always

Most often money maker broker hunt stops. Sometimes we see that they dont have connection with the LP.
They just play with the fund of the traders.

it's a zero sum game in the markets
so to create liquidity to go in one direction the stoploss hunting in the other will create it
pretty simple really
I will get my head around this, but always can be wrong

No, I don't believe in stoploss hunting on an individual retail trader.
and yes I always always always use a stop loss!

For every time my SL has been hit by 1 pip and then reversed, there has been a time my TP has been hit by 1 pip and then reversed.
For anyone claiming they have been unlucky with their SL, I would ask "have you ever been lucky with your TP?"
