Week 4 is now over, and it has been an interesting one to say the least - certainly a good test of both my trading skills and the robustness of the trading method/money management in play. But let me start from the beginning...

The EURJPY trades carried over from last week proved to be a tough cookie to manage in the consolidation that continued throughout this week. For the first time in 14 months, I had to apply a safety measure (a hedge lock) to limit the floating drawdown, which reached 25% on Monday. Just to comment on that - I consider anything up to 25% a normal working drawdown, and I would not have been concerned about it, had it not been for the prolonged consolidation. So, as it always is the case in trading, it was the matter of 'adapt or die'.
And so adapt it was. With the hedge lock in place, I could focus on countering the floating drawdown with recovery trades for the rest of the week, managing to recover 95% of it by Friday.

Here's what my EURJPY chart looks like after nearly two weeks of surfing the range. Trades 1-4 are the recovery trades, the open ones are from last week.


The objective is to close January as the 14th consecutive profitable month. There are 3 more working days to go to get the equity back over the green line. Watch this space. The current Subscriber stats as below:


P.S. Sharing this mainly with potential Subscribers in mind (as the existing ones need no convincing) to illustrate that even in the very rare moments of adversity, which are bound to happen to the best of us, this humble trader is going strong.

The latest trades and Subscriber stats as below, all trades closed, with the equity firmly set above the green line. The only cost of the situation was time, but despite being on the back foot for the past two weeks, this month is still 5.42% above December.

Having experienced a slight wobble in January (as detailed in the two posts above), yet having gained the upper hand in the end, leads me to the reflection that such situations are actually good for any trader to go through. It is only under pressure that the true resilience of the method is revealed, and I have to say that I am quite proud of mine.

Next week will be the first week after full recovery, so let's take a look at how things stand for the main account.

One of the welcome "side effects" of the higher lot sizes used during the recovery, is a new equity high for 2018.



Another is, consequently, reaching the next compounding level, the 4th since Nov 2016, which means a proportionally higher initial lot size and faster growth.

A not so welcome, albeit above all merely graphic side effect, is the currently slightly limping balance curve. This is due to the fact that the balance was driven much higher during the recovery, in order to lift the equity well above the pre-recovery level and thus exceed the floating dd. Once that was achieved, the closing of all open trades naturally brought the balance curve sharply down. As I said, I see it merely as a graphic side effect in the stats as, obviously, it is the equity (as is ROI) that is the only true measure of performance - and that is at its highest ever.
