how about keeping zigzag arrow to setting 30 instead of 60,because we are fighting for 10-20 pips,i kept my zigzag arrow on 10 on daily to 4 H chart and i was happy.

I have been following the thread pretty closely and have not seen any discussion about position sizing as it relates to the risk per trade. This simple concept could drastically change, and possibly improve the results. The principle is quite simple, but because there is no information available about the actual hard stop, it is not possible to calculate a proper comparison of what the current results are compared to what the actual results are using standard stop sized risk management. There may be large winners on these trades when the market runs away with a great reversal entry but those wins are diminished when a position is not sized properly. For example if the stop is a smaller one relative to where the signal occurs, that particular win may net a much larger profit. Further, if a stop is hit on the GBPJPY for 150 pips on a 240 minute time frame, that loss will likely wipe out profits for many of the smaller wins that are sized exactly the same. If a stop is place on EURUSD for 50 pips at a fixed size of 1 unit that % of risk is much less than a position size of 1 unit with a 150 pip stop. It is simple math, and shows a serious vulnerability. It is OK to use standard lot sizes for the simple task of EA functionality and performance, but this is not a serious method for risk management. A string of losing trades will wipe out an account quickly. There are not only inequalities with stop sizes and positions sizes, there are also different weights that occur when calculating the risk for the cross pairs when trading in USD. Anyone who has been trading for a while will recognize the importance of this element and I suggest this as a way to truly improve the performance of this EA. I would set aside all the tweaking for trend lines and extra indicators and implement a rigorous risk management tool into the EA and then see what the results are with what you have already developed. So for it looks very promising, but without a stop... I remain skeptical. I offer this in the spirit of helpful critique, not to disparage or hinder your excellent work. sometimes I read 91 pages in 2 hours. It is a special technique. And therefore some weeks I read over 500 pages only in this forum, beside my books handy. But also I can understand that not all characters are as same as me. I am beside of this aware that one can trade better as by me reading 5 pages compare to my 100 pages. Some are lazy and more succesful and some are hardworker with some coins in pocket only. Forex is a businnes with only 2 ways of winning or losing, but 95% are losing statistical. And I do also not think that the %5 is reading more pages as the rest of 95%

In line with jsmanuse suggestion, rather than tweaking and adding more indicators to an already good system, can I suggest that we look more into the trade management of the open positions.

At the moment, we have only two types of trade management which are:

  1. trailing trades based on pips profit and
  2. initial stoploss at the previous Zigzag swing and closing the trade when the opposite zigzag candle appears

I have visually back tested the ea (version 117) from January 2016 to December 2017 over the weekend using both stoploss methods mentioned above and the results were good but can be better. The results were in line with mrdfx current demo testing. The trailing stoploss method performed slightly better than leaving the trade to close when the opposite zigzag arrow appears.

With the permission of mrdfx and ebeckers, could we look into adding these options into the trade management so that others on the forum can forward test and let us know their results:

  1. trail the trades with fractals. I suggest we don't use the standard fractals which repaints; we can use a customizable fractal where we can use 2, 3, 4, 5, etc candles before and after to define how aggressive the trailing should be. I have attached an adjustable fractal indicator which i found here on FF and I give credit to the person that coded it. I'm sure ebeckers can do wonders with it.
  2. trail the trades with a more responsive zigzag setting. This implies that we are entering trades with the major Zigzag settings from mrdfx and trailing the trades with smaller wave forms until the trade is stopped out.
  3. Take profit only when there is an opposite trade signal. As we all know entering a trade is simpler than exiting. During the back testing, I noticed that trades which have potential of riding a big reversal are cut short once the opposing zigzag candle appears for the first time (even though it repaints). I think we could change this to keep the trade on and only close the trade when an opposite trade signal is confirmed.

Regarding khogghai comments in the previous post, I would like to add one further suggestion.

I think having one set of trailing stop settings for all pairs could be improved by relating the amount of trail to the Recent Daily Range of each pair. I have seen this done on several trade management EA's

In addition I saw a comment above that MrdFX was looking at filtering via a currency strength filter, I think this could also help. I was following Forexpinbar's CCFP thread for several months https://www.forexfactory.com/showthread.php?t=635569 using the CCFp

indicator there are several variants developed but it worked well especially on the higher time frames.

Ultimately to get the best settings some back testing will be required now that we have a ZigZag indicator that shows historical repaint positions I assume this can be done.....Is there anyone on the team who is a back testing guru?...
One of the strategy shared here ended up on last day of year with a lose day. However on the previous day it was a winner. I didn't try yet to tweak the set. Before doing or trying to touch anything of the parameters I need to watch few more days the actual behave of the EA in real volalite market conditions. Because the TS settings will have a widen different performance, after few days a new volalite has to count into the game. I want to point out that the testing phase of the last week of 2017 was not the real show , the ADR was almost on many days on half power with some pairs. So 2018 arrived and I am happy, I hope soon for good volalite conditions. Below the last day of 2017 with H4

Hello mrdfx, may I can ask you your TE is showing us all your tests together?

I mean I read above h4 with TS and without TS and D1 with and without TS. I got the point that H4 with TS was a good performer, is your TE showing all them together? I try to understand the up and down momentum there. Also of course another case is the version change.

Wow this thread has exploded...

just finished reading all the recent posts, since being on holiday and the idea of using the tdi filter aswell maybe quite interesting. I like the idea of ccfp or currency strength but have no idea how to apply such a filter and how it will benefit it.

if you remember the DASH EAX thread and the ccfp + tdi idea....i think maybe this can work in the same way

i have been using currency strength in trading,it is a temporary filter and it is good to use when we are trading manually or scalping. too many inidcators will be distracting and delaying the trade decision.KISS.

Help with EA Display.

Shout out to mrdx ...Awesome method and ebeckers for the EA. I have read through the entire thread and cannot get the EA to Display correctly on a blank screen with ALL options selected to NONE.

Any Help is Apprectiated.
