I've been coding an alert indicator that performs the core function of Smart Center Pro: generating alert when a SOS/SOW appears and there is trend alignment. I know TG's diamond trend line is actually SMA20. However, I don't know how to determine the "gray" status of the diamond trend line. Does anyone know the criteria TG use for the "gray" line ?

I was reading the Better Volume guide and the candles get colored the same as the indicator, anyone know if thats possible with MT4. In the guide he is using Trade Station.

the algle of the SMA is what determines the color green grey or red, in combination with if price is above or below

As a VSAer, you probably recognized the interval as stopping volume.

The reasons this interval is indicative of Initiative buyer are:

Extreme (L3 ) BUYING aggression bar after a down move. That makes a lower low and closes near its high that has follow though. So, price auctioned far enough down to attract buyers. Once a person sells( goes short) he immediately becomes a buyer. Due to the high level of volume, or activity, coupled with the resulting price action, there must be more than just buyers that are closing out shorts.

Again, under this definition, Initiative buying or selling would appear at the extremes. Further proving the notion that price auctions up or down to attract buyers or sellers receptively.

Back to VSA, Stopping volume would be part of the accumulation phase. Which is another way of saying the smart money is getting long. By definition, if they are getting long, they are not simply closing shorts by buying back their positions to get neutral.

This indicator is definitely floating around this forum, and the internet in general.

Try the first page of the PVSRA thread or the PVSRA scalping thread by cigar guy.

There's only one correction. That diamond indicator is SMA20, not SMA5. That thick blue line in the screenshot is SMA20 I attached there, it matches the TG diamond line 100%.

has nothing to do with better volume indicator.

You meant the Broker Tick PVA indicator right? I was comparing that one with the Better volume indicator and they give a lot of different signals.
To my inexperienced eye the Better volume indicator seems a lot better, but then again I don't know what the fuck I'm talking about, and Pres78 was kind enough to answer that Volume is just Volume. So which one do I choose?

If you look at my charts, you can plainly see that I use neither better volume nor MT4. The PVSRA charts look like they have better volume, but I have not "studied" the indicators or the method. I simply offered a suggestion. Here's another one- go to the source:

The better volume indi simply makes it easier to see what one can see with their eyes. It simply takes and highlights volume different colors based on how high or low it was and how that compares to an average.

I tried it is the past but realized that I wasn't even using the colors in my trading so ended up back with just the regular volume indi.

Yeah I know, I'm a complete newbie in VSA trading , so for now, I'm not using it yet in my trading, only screenshotting my charts and writing my observations on them and I figured if I can color code the candles like the Better Volume Indicator I'll see learn quicker.

EURUSD up trend continues, and a pretty good buy-the-dip setup at NY open appeared. 3 minute chart with what I think are no supply and test bars marked is attached.

Awesome entry my friend. Unfortunately, I would have to wait for more evidence before I could enter. First, I would need to see Chart Modes I & II turn green. Second, I would need for price to move above the Cycle of Time line. Then I could start looking for entry signals. E1 thru E5 would be valid entry points for me.


E1: Down bar with a decreasing range on volume less than the previous two intervals. No Supply. The background story: We see a Level 2 SELLING Aggression bar that immediately gets rejected. Then we see its high being taken out by a Level 3 BUYING Aggression bar. While this BUYING Aggression bar does not have immediate follow thru, or immediately find acceptance above, it does hold its low. Then its high is taken out with some Level 1 BUYING Aggression. This bar also holds its low, as a No Supply bar prints.

E2: Two Bar Reversal at our dynamic support line ( Cycle of Time Line). The background story: The story here is a bit muddled for a long to be honest. We see a Level 3 SELLING Aggression bar with no follow thru. However, its high has held up to this point. In fact, there was a No Demand sign of weakness at its high. This is a polar bear in Hawaii-the trend is Up. Price is above the Cycle of Time Line and both Chart modes I & II are green. Then we see a Level 2 SELLING Aggression bar that does trade lower than the Level 3 SELLING Aggression bar. But the very next interval creates the Two Bar Reversal pattern. If we are not already long, we might want to wait for the highs of these two SELLING Aggression bars to be taken out.

E3: Down bar with a decreasing range that closes near its high on volume less than the previous two intervals. Test. The background story: The market breaks above the high of both the Level 2 SELLING bar and the Level 3 SELLING bar on a Level 2 BUYING bar. The Test bar is simultaneously finding support at the highs of these bars. Resistance becomes Support.

E4: Narrow range Down bar on volume less than the previous two intervals. No Supply. The background story: We see a Level 3 BUYING Aggression bar that appears to be holding its low with this No Supply interval. From a VSA perspective, we know that weakness, when it appears, usually appears on Up bars. When we see a High volume Up bar that is tested or has no supply within the next 1-5 intervals, the bar is strong. The high volume may in fact be indicative of Absorption volume.

E5: Gavin's favorite- Test in a Rising Market. The background story: Every story up to this point. We also note that we have just seen a Level 1 SELLING Aggression bar. That means the last three SELLING Aggression bars have been decreasing in order of magnitude.
