Yes, it is absolutly worth the money and effort. Once you have a 2-3 monitor setup there is no going back.
2 monitors is cake to setup. Just get yourself any decent nvidia geforce card that has both vga and dvi connectors. It will come with an adapter to convert the dvi to vga. Plug in your 2 monitors and install the included software. During install it will ask you how you want to setup your monitors.
I would seriously consider getting 2 identical monitors so they line up or it could get a little confusing to work with.
3 monitors gets a bit more complicated. I would say try 2 and if you still feel like you need more realestate then look into it. You would still be able to use everything you needed to get 2 working so no issue with wasting money if you change your mind later...
(qty 2) 17" lcd monitors and a good geforce card will run you about $500-600. Don't waste the money on 19" lcds, they will NOT give you any more screen space, it will only make everything larger.Ignored
