Excellent article Dale - I just have a couple of questions on this:

You mention that you close trades that are open going into the NY close each day. Would you then reopen them again once spreads settled? There was a good example on the EURUSD 30th October which went on to hit the TP after the NY close but I closed before hand for a small loss.

Secondly - you enter your trades via market orders whilst at the desk. Presumably you must therefore sometimes miss the correct entry due to either a very quick spike or hesitation with the trigger finger (I'm an expert at that!). Do you have some sort of figure in your head for the worst entry you'd accept...ie 2 pips worse than your intended entry?

yes it is okay to reopen them but you need to reopen at the same or better price.
Maybe it sounds weird but I don't miss the entries. I am very careful about that. If I hesitated and the price was already 2 pips away (in my direction) I would wait for it to return to the right entry point or I wouldn't enter at all. Only thing that is okay is to take trades for a better then intended price.

Dear traders, here is completely new EA version v1.81
This TradeManager may help you to take care of significant levels, execute and look after trades, secure profit and so on. In this version:

  1. Red News Filter work dramatically improved. Was changed FFCal indicator and added GMT Offset Time parameter in EA.
  2. Tested levels algorithm corrected. Now EA calculates 8 pips move not from the level but from price reaction point.
  3. Auto Lot calculation based on Account Equity % and Margin added.
  4. Push Notifications on different events added. You may switch on/off them for Touch event, Trade event, Tested event and Discard level event.
  5. Added a feature that would move SL at reaction point when 7.5 pips in open profit.
  6. Added a feature that would move TP to BE after two M5 candles close in loss (renda1234 (https://www.forexfactory.com/renda1234) approach (https://www.forexfactory.com/showthread.php?p=10191266#post10191266)).
  7. All messages for different events are separated and each event is clearly commented by EA.
  8. EA is capable to control the number of positions on all pairs to avoid several orders opened at the same time on correlated pairs.
  9. EA Magic Number became available for user change.
  10. EA Comments became available for user change.

  1. FFCal Red News indicator should be placed in Metatrader4\MQL4\Indicators folder. This EA v1.81 needs new FFCal_DV_150715m.ex4 and will not hold Red News with old one. Make sure you have updated it!
  2. Make sure you have correctly adjusted "GMT Offset" for Red News filter (refer to user's manual). For example for IC Markets and Global Prime EA "GMT Offset = 1" in my MT4 while both have GMT+2 server time since 5-th of November.
  3. Please do not change chart TF EA is attached to.
  4. Please read EA manual before asking questions.

Thanks a lot for this. The changes towards how levels are tested combined with moving stop to reaction point is just what i wanted. However the lot size calculation doesn't appear to work. To get 5% risk (or in the region of that) I need to go "50%" but even then the risk isn't quite right...seems to be out by a factor of about 1.3...ie it's 1.3 times too heavy (note i've tried this on a GBP and USD account)

Lot size calculation is not based on risk of loss. It is based on Account Equity & Margin required for new position opening. Calculation formula as follows:

are you effectively saying that if you put it at 100% then it'll open the largest trade that your broker would allow?

Looks like this. And you may test any feature as I did it.
I failed to open trade at 100%. Maybe because of spread your account margin level fall and may cause margin call and MT4 terminal prohibits it. In another attempt set 50% and margin was about 50% just after opening. But Equity doesn't stay constant and Tick value also.

BTW you may see auto Lot calculated value even before position was opened in EA parameters displayed in the upper EA comment string.

Hi Sevan, thanks so much for continuing to make your EA freely available. I really appreciate the new function of being able to move the SL to the reaction point (RP) when xx points in profit. If you are still making enhancements there are two suggestions that I would like to see implemented:

1. To be able to move the SL to the RP after xx minutes in a trade. Similar to the close losing positions by time but instead of outright closing the position move the SL to the RP.

2. For both point 1 above and when moving SL to RP when xx points in profit to be able to add a points margin to the RP. Eg. If a long trade is 7.5 pips in profit then move SL to RP minus xx points. Reasoning being that the RP could be the new support level and then move in the right direction whereas if the RP doesn't hold by say 0.5 pips then it is definitely broken and SL should be actioned.

And a question in regards to the red news filter. Does the EA filter out trades on specific currencies dependent on the news or does it filter out trades on all currencies for all red news events? I.e. If say there is an RBA rate decision in Australia that is red news are only AU trades filtered out at that time or are all currency pairs stopped during that red news period? Similarly if in a trade, say UC and an RBA rate decision was due would the trade be closed xx minutes before the red news event or would only AU trades be closed?

Your points 1. and 2. seems reasonable and I put them on todo list and will implement in next EA version.

According to Red News filter work. It affects to the currencies which have red news only but USD red news affects on all currencies and pairs. For example GBP red news have an affect to GBP containing currency pairs. BTW EA screen comments should answer your questions also.

I received several PMs claiming that EA doesn't accept the levels put by user. The matter is that once the level change its state from Active to any other (Tested, Discarded during Red News, Discarded due to Monster Move Filter, Not Active) you have to set "Reset tested events = True" in order to change the levels state and value. This EA parameter is "False" by default.
This situation may happen after the first EA run with zero levels. All 4 levels states become "Not Active" and remains until you switch "Reset tested events = " to "True" or till you reload EA.
