hello rvanscho, what setting should put if i want your cci to look like the normal cci. When i put your cci with for example period 14 and mt4 default cci same period 14 both indicator do not look the same. So how can i change the setting of your cci if i want it to look exactly like mt4 cci. I hope you understand what i mean thanks.

Im not to sure, they will look slightly different. you can also use the defualt mt4 cci but you will have to adjust the levels yourself

Good for you. I guess you don't know how to use them. And they don't JUST follow price, the movement is relative to the y-axis. Ever heard of bearish or bullish divergence? Price can double bottom or double top whilst a rsi or macd for example shows a large degree of divergence. I've got so many good trades from indicator divergences.

nice thread and images. How can we overlay CCI over MACD (or MACD over CCI) ? From default MT4 CCI & MACD indicator, there is no option to "apply to first indicator data" like if we put MA indicator over CCI as example. If it is a modified version, how to scale the MACD and CCI ? I mean, lets say the value of MACD is in range of +0.004 to -0.035 , and the value of CCI is in range of +217 and -144 . How can we code to put them both in one separate window, but still can see the nice histogram of small MACD range value, compare to the very big range of CCI value ?

Use the COMMON Tab on the Indicator popup screen. Adjust the minimum and maximum until the 0 lines match up.

I have moved on from this particular strategy. I'm still however using the idea of Overbought and Oversold. I'm just using a different indicator.

I have attached the indicator twice on my chart. One is set at 1hr and one is set at 4hr.

Huge thanks to Mladen for coding this indicator. Its very powerful, granted you know how to use it.

The 1 hour timeframe on the indicator is used as a signal line (dotted line).

The 4 hour timeframe on the indicator is used as the main trend (solid line).

There is a few ways you can trade this.

1. You can place a trade when the signal line crosses the main trend; or

2. You can place a trade in the direction of the main trend; or

3. wait until overbought or oversold, draw a trend line, wait for price to break that trend line. This is best used on a 4hour chart because there are too many possibilities for drawing trend lines on the 1 hour chart.

Example: Main trend turns blue, we buy, we add to this position every time the signal line turns blue as well. We don't place trades against the trend unless the signal line and the main trend cross each other.

Feel free to ask questions, add to this or critique.

This is from the maker of this indicator:

From time to time you will have a case that you attach an indicator to a chart and nothing is displayed. If you open the data window, you shall see that the data is at correct places, but nothing is displayed on the chart

To fix : edit the code - change anything (random change will do) - compile the code - undo the change you did (reverting to the original code) - compile again. It will display
Here is the usual way how it is done :
Open the file for modifying (right click on the file in the indicators list and chose modify), type in the following (without the "") "// 012345", hit F7 or press the compile button, delete the "//012345" part, hit the F7 or compile button again, and it will work. If it does not, do that same thing again and the chances are that it will work.
There is nothing in the code that needs to be changed (hence the reverting of the mq4 file to original state) since it is not an issue of the code but a build 1090 bug

I also had that problem but its fixed.

GBPUSD trade example.

Main trend is showing a buy whilst oversold.

I will buy more once the signal line (dotted line) changes from back to a buy signal. Its currently showing buy anyways but a correction will occur later on.

You can also see the signal line crossed over the main trend line. I could've also taken that trade but I was slow on the execution.

Also remember your stops and breakevens.

For that that use this indicator please do not be offended by my comments (been trading for the past 18 yrs), just curious why the CCI is looked at, when large institutions do not use it. Since this is the case means that retail is using it and if 95% of the retail traders are wrong why than utilize something that does not give constant results? The market changes daily and how it is possible to have a fix setting under these dynamics?
