This myopic thinking is endemic amongst the EU Bolsheviks. How has the UK caused (sic) the pensions in the EU? The EU has over 46000 staff of which 3.8% are British totalling c 1700 UK nationals employed by the EU. The only real liabilities rest with loans guaranteed that the UK will honour should a default occur - they should not have to pay in advance at the chance of an unforeseen future event.
The UK is quite prepared to negotiate on a rational basis - but not some half-baked vengeance levy to punish the UK for preferring independence to veiled communism.

Despite all its bluff and bluster, in reality, the EU Commission is in no position to demand anything from the UK, and the sooner we all realized this, the more public pressure there will be on our government to admit to it and place the ball firmly in the EU's court. Britain hold all the cards, and we can quite easily walk away, deal or no deal, from the failing economic and political system that is the EU. The Brussels kleptocracy does not like us one little bit, for they have everything to lose and nothing to gain from Britain's departure, whereas for us, the exact opposite is true. Our political class needs to toughen up and show the EU who really is in the driving seat in these negotiations.

remember what happened when russia defaulted?

of course russia by no means has a bad economy. but the loss of trust is what killed them.

think of it this way. Donald trump. The way he defaults on his payments makes him an asshole. Sure he can do it. But he's an asshole. And nobody will do business with him again.

Why UK should pay anything? Is there a willingness from EU to make a deal or it's just demanding & demanding from UK not realizing good relationship with UK is useful as well otherwise where they're gonna sell their goods?

Seems to me more like EU trying to show force to scare others thinking about leaving this EU thingy that just seems rotten more & more. Acting more like mafia then..

Anybody wanna make business with mafia? Well, it's a choice too.. )

The cost of disruption to the system may be more than the divorce cost.

Then the CBA of the divorce costs should be well analysed, all these talks only fuel the conflict and causes deeper conflict.

It has been proven in numerous legal quarters,we owe nothing legally upon our leaving. This should be remembered ( and remind the EU bully boys ) Why pay anything. Only if we get something in return, which has to be a good price, not any price.

Then the UK should have handed in working papers for negotiation, which they missed month after month. It is not enough to be patriotic and Play strong, when you aren't.

Independence sells nicely to the Little man but the UK has no plan further from the nice-sounding metaphors. I can see that the People of the UK won't let that happen and go to the streets when the time is ripe.
