Out of the potential with some good profit, unfortunately not the hundreds of pips expected. But then again, who can complain of a win?

Speaking of win....nailed FOMC today . Goal for this EA is effectively 5% a month....and we've already smashed 15% in a single month! Not bad....

End of the week will mark the first 30 days of version 2.0. Will have live account up in 60 more days. I will keep this account running, and start adding new pairs as we move forward. The demo will showcase new pairs first- and then -if they perform- I'll move them to the live account.

Alright! Version 2.0 is +14% in the first full month! The goal is only 5% a month, and 45% a year. Great start so far

Whew! Last two weeks for The Pequod has been rough! Good thing for stop losses and R:R! The 15M has been beating her up just a bit, however; I've got some pretty juicy 4H and Daily trades coming....lets see how she weathers the storm

Things are turning around, weather is clearing a bit the Daily trade I suspected would help this late string of losses is doing very well, have another H4 trade that just popped up around 1.1800 I'm hoping to add on. The Pequod EA still pleases me- currently 54 days in...36 days to go until live account

forex baraka: I really appreciate your vouch of faith in this EA, such that you'd risk real money trading with it, however; the EA is still unfinished and hasn't passed my testing standards yet. It is showing promise, but I could not in good conscience allow anyone to risk money on this EA until it is finished, tested, and proven.

My plans are to trade this demo into 90 days, then follow up with a live account of $1000 for another 90 days. Together that would put 6 months of live information at my fingertips, which would allow me to refine the trading a bit if needed.

I've back tested up to 10 years and have gotten favorable results, but nothing replaces live. Perhaps we can talk again in a few months Please don't take this as an insult, I genuinely care that other people are safe from snake oil salesmen, and that's not the reputation I want to garner by releasing unfinished products into an unsuspecting market. Especially considering I haven't even thought through what I plan to do with the EA (free, sale, keep, etc) other than to figure out if the damn thing works...

Alright! As expected, the H4 and Daily trades have made up for the recent string of losses. Will not close though, as the plan details for another 100-300 pips. This is a key point in the EA testing phase, as I can tell whether or not I should follow the EA's plan, or close a trade once losses are made up.

For record, the back tests suggest that I should let the EA run its course, that the EA will make up for it's own losses' without human interference. Considering my outlook is currently inline with a bearish EU scenario (details in other threads), I will allow these trades to run their course. I have however set the trades to break even.

Another note for any of those like forex baraka: I will not release the unfinished EA under any circumstances, however; all the trades are posted live in the trade explorer ahead of time and without anything hidden. Anyone is more than welcome to follow the trades manually and report their experience. Please realize if you do so, you will be following an EA that is currently untested in a live environment!

Going to start posting my analysis more in my own thread so that I can start tying in the "human factor" with the EA. That will allow myself and others to track my fundamental bias vs the EA's cold technical analysis.

Nice little gap down- nothing crazy but expected seeing as Friday ended in a sell off. Keep an eye out for continuation, if 1.1662 is closed on the daily we're looking for a nice drop down to the 14 handle, and maybe even into the 12 handle before new highs > 20 handle

Also note, the head and shoulders pattern on the daily/weekly would TP at 400 pips!!

The TPs for my current EA trades are set right in that area looking to turn this week around, and sail right out of the storm with some positive monthly return!!

Boom! What a massive turn around, that is exactly the way I want this EA to work! Proper stop losses saving capital, and good trades on higher time frames more than making up for many stops on the lower frames! 1 trade just made up for almost 20 stops....and all of this utilizing LOW margin with LOW risk.

With ECB happening this week, I've cleared most profits and will leave the trade from the largest time frame running (daily trade looking for 300 pips). I've secured the month on a good note, rest of the week is no stress

Largest timeframe trade didn't survive, but ended in profit. Looks like there is a run-up to ECB meeting. Month is secured coasting easy 2 of the 3 month trial period has ended in profits....one more month to go before going live!!

Coming into the last month of demo trading lets do this!!

FOMC and NFP are the big ones this week, not expecting much from FOMC (not until December) but NFP as usual will provide some volatility. Not sure what to expect for the NFP....the last contraction and actual loss of jobs was the first time since 2010 we've seen this....another negative print will be a HUGE red flag for US

A note on the progress so far coming into the end of the second month....

First of all, drop the FF mentality and start thinking like an investor. When you are an investor, you do not care about the mundane day to day volatility of the market - you care about the portfolio's performance at the end of the year. Did it beat the benchmark S&P? Good- you have a good portfolio.

Watching day to day interactions of your money causes you to lose sight of the big picture. Because of that, I've set my goals as follows - 5% a month, 45% a year. I do not watch the individual day to day profitability because I know my EA works, and my judgement is sound. In the end- I will win.

When I judge the performance of my EA/portfolio, I look at monthly gain, not daily. The Pequod is built to withstand the test of TIME, that means the ups and downs of the market (ocean) are inconsequential so long as my sails are intact and my compass is true. Consistency and sustainability are the keys! I want this EA and this thread to still be here making money in 2025!!

  1. This is a 90 day demo testing account for my EA. At the end of 90 days this account will go live.
  2. The goals for this account are 5% monthly, 45% yearly, Max DD 20%. I consider that a moderate risk tolerance. I measure performance on a monthly basis- as this EA is meant to be sustainable indefinitely.
  3. This EA takes trades on the 15M, 4H, D, and W timeframes. The 15M trades are meant to increase volume because depending on volume most brokers will give a discount.

Having some very interesting conversations with @Husky77 in the commercial scammers thread (Here). It blows my mind that so many signal providers here are untrustworthy!! Can anyone name a single signal provider that abides by the following 5 rules???

 

  1. Trade Explorer
  2. Live account
  3. No "custom start"
  4. 3 months of trading and/or 100 trades
  5. Overall profitablity. aka Profit Factor > 1

I love Andy Frisella....the "Mother fucking CEO". Our conversation reminds me of one of Andy's podcasts. There is no longer room in the world for inferior products. You have to care about people, and provide a good product otherwise you will get kicked to the curb! Here

Killing it narrowly missed October's target by 1.38%, but that's ok, month before tripled the 5% monthly goal. Here's to the final 30 days of demo!

First 3 days of the month and already had an opportunity to clear my trades for the monthly goal however; I will hold this trade and look to get at least 10% or more providing the fundamental atmosphere stays the course for the next month....

December should involve a FED rate hike (as I've said numerous times), other than that should be business as usual....ECB not expected to do much until Q4 next year...so they are largly out of the picture for the MACRO front, with the exception of Brexit drama.

All in all, expecting to end the year with this demo very healthy...and sail into 2018 on a freshly funded live account looking towards calm weather and great seas

So, I believe I will start a weekly fundamental outlook in this thread to help me follow world events and further structure my trading around the outlooks.

I do like how cubbybgood uses video to provide outreach and clarity for his followers, I may start doing that with a weekly fundamental outlook in 2 minutes or less. Something like a recap and a looking ahead. To be continued....

As for this week

Both Yellen and Draghi will be speaking, but those should be non events.
RBA rate decision could be a market mover, but unfortunately I don't currently trade AUD- so I'm not following that. I will in the future though.

Overall, with EURUSD in mind- I expect this week to be rather dull with either ranging or continuation trading. I'd prefer continuation considering I'm currently short.
