Week in Review:

On Wednesday in the NY session I made $2500 quickly (and was having another great first half of the month just like September) but then instead of closing my platform and enjoying the day I took just one more trade, then spiraled into oblivion the next three days, "planning" to make it all back in the N government announcement.

I was up $3k when that trade reversed on A news, then it just kept going and I sat there still in a disbelieving fog, thinking it was just the A news--but it wasn't and the trade kept running against me until I finally closed it in exhaustion. I guessed the outcome on early moves, was wrong and ignored the market's reversal.

My problem is over-trading (pretty much random gambling), trading too large when I'm losing, revenge-trading, self-esteem--and I'm probably trading to create stress and unhappiness (something familiar to me). This year my dad's dying and an engagement ended, and I've carried this unhappiness into trading--the early winning days are too easy, then I need to go and $%@& things up). Got it.

I spent the weekend considering my objectives in life and trading, and identified things that I need to change to make them happen, including writing a trading plan. With these observations, motivation to make this work, I opened a new account and will start anew on Monday.

This has been unpleasant to write but it is the truth, and that's a good place from which to start change. I hope it's helpful to someone out there.

I have been there and done that.
Going through the similar life phase and life events .
I highly admire your transparency displaying the trading account with huge balance.
I know i am in no way qualified to give you advice or suggestion, but as a fellow trader who has been through the similar life phase of life events, it is my experience to not rush in to recover losses because it only leads to over-trading and loss of emotional control over ones own trading , pushing a trader into loss of control over the rational thought process. This is all coming from 10 years of trading experience , dealing with emotions is hardest part in trading .
Take a pause to go over what went wrong, write it down and stick that thing to side of your trading device as strict things not to do no matter what . It helps a long way.
Losses are part of life of trader , the only thing we can control is loss in predefined % . The profits will come automatically given your trading experience. Using SL while entering trade has helped me transition from the phase of emotional trader to a profitable trader when i follow particular set of rules written down and modified over my journey as a trader.
Following the same purpose of transparency and keeping ones emotions in check and to summarize the trading over weekend , i myself have started to note down few points in my own journal as well, just to hep myself seek the emotional balance that is the backbone of professional trading.

Good idea to make a new account. I suggest you to try demo again or start with very small lot size like 0.1 lot. Run it half a year and see the results. Maybe trading a higher timeframe is better for you.

Takes courage to admit one's failures. Now you know what the problem is, work hard to maintain your emotions under control while trading. Money management will help you a lot with this, and looking for a steady growth of your account instead of the variance you are getting.

Got hit by 2 pips on a Sell Stop Order (Oanda 30 pips G/cad spread at news!) and spent the rest of the trade recovering from that placement error.

The GJ chart reminds me why it is worth waking up early for big G news announcements.

The E/cad chart reminds me to hold interest rate decision trades; I left a lot of money on the table with E/cad, G/cad, and U/cad trades today. Good trade selection isn't so good if I don't collect the money.

i am not sure about approach, and dont want to comment on that really.
what i am sure and told David, that if something doesnt work out well, at a certain point have to consider changing that.
i feel that point is due now!

Looking at your trades I think you are too emotional for the volume you put in a trade. It's like, you enter in a trade with 3/5/x lot and as soon as it is loosing few bucks you're out ... From my experience with your trade volumes and pairs that have high spread + move fast ... a few 100s$ are +/- in seconds ... praying to be out before being in might be a part of the trading plan.

But why not trading 10x times smaller? 0.3/0.5 lot ... get used to stay longer in the market, study the market behavior, plus you might be much more profitable in case of a random range.

I don't know your trading strategy, therefore I might be wrong with what I said ... it would be nice if you could share it as this thread is a journal.

Next not to do thing I was thinking you will do? I will say it now, TE is private. I think you're taking into consideration to give x$ to someone else and trade for you ... I think it will be a wrong decision and it will turn out worsen that thought!

There are x% profitable traders, why not being one of them?

Yea...entry error on that supposed to be a 2lot trade! Fortunately, was on the EU up train and held on for a couple minutes.

Looks like a display totaling error in the TE software...my today total was .4%, not 2.2%. See my daily trade total today in the TE.

Now @ 176k but 178k was there and a little more. I will say what I had in mind regarding the cheat with those numbers: capital split, two acc <100k here you go a profitable path to the next number.
What I also noticed, and maybe this method helps: trade minimum, 1 unit (not lot) ... change to a bigger volume only after you are tired of losing.

this time revenge trading was turning out ok, as loss was over 15k....
but have to be clear, when there is a plan, and when there is luck.
cos luck can and do run out, and then this pattern spiral to disaster.

To me it seems like he is bored with 3 digit gains/loss so geared up. He is still taking notes of not to enter before and after NFP.
