c) and your TP or lock profit per pair aswel ...to 20 and up .... so R:R is > 1.5/2.0 ...or more whatever you set.
d) Aiming 200 pips TP or lock ..risking 50 pips loss ...might worth the dive ...with the little torches called CCfp/Strengh

I would gladly take an olympic acrobatic jump into these waters with NO "toe test" ....

Problem is : I do NOT trust yet Xm7 EA to do this for me...

Here is a perfect example of where the VB comes into play and does part what I was explaining earlier. If I did not have the VB this basket would be floating in -100 pips DD, but cos of the VB in place it has saved me from a potential big loss.

I would add ...not floating ...would have hit stop looss.Now ( although you do not show total pairs in basket) , I think that a 15 pips trigger is a little excessive
if you have barely 10 pairs ...a 5 pips trigger is enough ( my point of view) to determine if basket alignement is going in the desired direction ...so you can manually tight up your SL to 10/20 ( minus 10/20 pips ) ...looking for a fixed 50 pips profit ..even 30 pips TP with 0,10 or 1 full lot is great. So , or you loose 10/20 pips only ...o you pocket 50 pips ..this is great R:R ...

Not getting any better lol. Would have been good in reverse. Good thing I had the VB.

This basket has 15 pairs running. I've played with different triggers and 15 pips works well for my VB.

We can debate the positives/negatives of a VB all day just as we can for Stop Loss and Take Profit, what time, what pairs.
If you start your basket trade and it goes into draw down some will say it is the starting time, others will say it is the indicator, others will say it is the broker and others will say it was the traders own choice to just start ... the reasons are endless. Whatever the reason it is a draw down and it needs to be managed.
If that management can be assisted with the use of a VB and the upper trigger is 20, 30, 40, 50, 200 whatever and you end with a profit then you have made a profit, I have a positive return on my investment regardless whether it is 1, 2, 5, 10, 50% and that is my focus.
For me it is not the 20, 50, 100 or whatever pips I missed out on by using a VB it is the positive pips I ended up with by using it.
If I can set an automatic process that will generate positive compounding %/$ each week that generates a return on investment of xx% p.a. or more then my goal is reached.
Auto versus manual, do the numbers and work out your effort hourly return and you may be very surprised .... or not.
For me it is not being bound to a screen looking for xx% a day, week, month because that is not my lifestyle.
In the end it is whatever the individual trader is comfortable with ...

It's the dreaded wednesday curse for TF baskets. Everything is in pullback mode and a good bit of news. I forgot to switch my baskets to reverse today or just not trade. They haven't hit SL yet but it's not looking great.

Sticking to the plan. All reds SL ..One with VB triggered at 25 pips ( +/- 1 pip per pair) once trigger hit ...went to SL in no time.
The Ccfp with no VB ..same ... no pain , no gain. Next week will then reverse Monday AND Wednesday ..so far tuesday thursday and friday will not be reversed.
Only trading LO.

Reverse Mondays, dreaded wednesdays, avoid Fridays, get in at the right time...
Recently I've been busy in other errands so I let my basic setups run alone in true set and forget spirit.
As before some good catches, some bad but overall negative results prevailed.
Maybe I'll remain only with Strength H4 proposed by Embry1 and some picks in HIN when I consider them promising.
One thing is for sure : today I won't trade this system live and if I'd done it, I would have lost money.

Today has been pretty good actually. TO was hit and miss but LO fired away. I think the news plays an important role with daily baskets and if the suggestions go in favor of the news then you in for a nice profit. This basket benefited nicely from today's news.

@Embry1 have you gad a look at all your TE and analyzed which pairs are the worst performers overall? Are the NZD and CHF pairs on the bottom half of yours?

Well the only basket I'm testing that falls into this category at the moment is the Strength H4 basket and it performs well but the edge is so slight that any pair could throw it off really. It seems that CHF pairs are slightly worse than NZD but there's plenty of NZD pairs that are profitable. I think what skews the data (especially on basket reports from many runs of the basket) is the spread difference. The spreads will always be higher on CHF and NZD pairs so after 50 tests of the same basket the NZD and CHF pairs will find the bottom of the page. You may have slightly better results over the long run cutting them out but for a short term the difference shouldn't matter.

All of my top 4 LO baskets hit TP today. I wish all days could be like this lol! The funny thing is all except one basket hit TP before NFP. It was a good Friday.

I'll be collecting this weeks data and updating from last week a little later today.

Guys below is an update from my previous post from last week: https://www.forexfactory.com/showthread.php?p=10344495#post10344495 These are the total figures for WEEK 10 of my top 4 baskets that I've been monitoring daily for TO and LO. I have collected the number of TP's hit, and SL's that were hit as well as average daily DD.

It was another interesting week for the baskets and I am still no sooner to deciding whether cutting out TO or keeping it. The numbers are still very close so I'll continue running TO and LO until week 12 and then I'll make a decision about TO and LO.

Below you will see the baskets labeled from 1-4 with the total number of TP's and SL's hit for each session, as well as overall average total daily DD per basket.

Some additional info about these baskets:

Basket 1-3 have a TP = 50 pips, and Sl = 100 pips, VB trigger = 15 pips.
Basket 4 has a TP = 100 pips, and SL = 200 pips, VB trigger = 15 pips.


Basket 1 TO: TP X 14 - SL X 10 - DD -16
Basket 1 LO: TP X 20 - SL X 10 - DD -35

Basket 2 TO: TP X 12 - SL X 8 - DD -14
Basket 2 LO: TP X 17 - SL X 9 - DD -15

Basket 3 TO: TP X 10 - SL X 8 - DD -15
Basket 3 LO: TP X 14 - SL X 9 - DD -15

Basket 3 TO: TP X 12 - SL X 2 - DD -30
Basket 3 LO: TP X 15 - SL X 7 - DD -25


So from your guys observations above about TO and LO, what do you think?


EDIT: Please note that I use a VB for all these baskets and some days for some sessions they might not trigger, that's why the numbers are so low over a 10 week period. Having the VB has definitely saved me from some big losses! Also baskets are only traded from Tuesday to Friday only, no trade on Mondays.

Thank you fir sharing you result. Overal basket combination seems like higher winning percentage. However since tp is only half of sl, the risk reward ratio is too thight for the overal basket combination. Perhaps raise the tp by 10 to 25 pips will make the basket combination more profitable.

The basket no.4 TO seems like the most consistently profitable. With 12 tp and 2 sl surely you will get 1200 pips by sacrificing 400 pips, thats a good rr ratio

Thanks for your feedback, yes the R/R ratio is not the best and since I'm only shooting for 50 pips for each basket which is not a lot I've set a larger SL to allow for some breathing room and for some swing in the basket. I've played with different numbers and 100 seemed the best for giving enough space for swings. I'm still monitoring the numbers and will maybe adjust things before putting them live.
