Hi mrdfx, I'm having little better results with single baskets, but still too much volatility and alternate outcomes to trade it live in a consistent manner. Therefore after having explored many settings my goal is to find a couple of setup that could give me a daily profit most of the times.

My laptop died and I was running all my daily baskets on that so I'm down for the count this week. All I have up is my weekly basket which has been in drawdown but has recovered. Other than that my main focus is manual trading until I can nail down more consistent results with daily baskets. However Strength 4 hour is still doing the best, it does still need some work before I can use it live.

Anybody seen PIF? He's been quiet these days.

On the basket side of things, I'm nearing the end of my testing, and probably only a week or 2 more to collect some extra data and then go live with some more set ups. I've been testing hundreds of combinations that I've lost count over the months and I've narrowed it down to a few good ones, now its just a matter of process of elimination to keep the top ones.

One thing that I've noticed is that as much as the selection is important to be profitable, so is the timing. I've had successes and losses with TO, and likewise LO, sometimes it feels like a coin toss which one will win or lose, as you can never accurately predict how the market will perform with the suggested pairs at any given time. If there was a way we could know which open time had a higher chance of success over the other then that would increase our chance of success. I've observed that LO is good but so is TO, then NYO can also be profitable sometimes depending on the suggested pairs.

At this point without knowing if the suggested pairs will match with the timing it feels like a gamble sometimes, and when it comes to trading real money you don't want to be gambling.

I see only the VB delayed entry as a partial shield to this because I have noticed that when suggestions get the right way, profit go high in pips, so to give up a bigger entry threshold can increase the assurance. Only time will tell if this strategy has a real edge, this silence doesn't say anything good.

Yesterday this was a winner, today it's a quick loser, so it's again a roulette.

It seems like another mixed week for TO and LO, with both sessions having some wins and losses. I'll do the calculations and see how they performed, but yet again another week gone by and I'm no closer to deciding whether to cut out TO and only use LO or not.

These are the total figures for the last 9 weeks of my top 4 baskets that I've been monitoring daily for TO and LO. I cut out 2 baskets last week, and narrowed it down to the top 4. I collected the number of TP's and SL's that were hit as well as average DD.

It was another interesting week for these baskets and I'm no sooner to deciding whether cutting out TO is a good idea. The numbers are very very close and its still too difficult to choose whether I should keep or cut TO.

Below you will see the baskets labeled from 1-4 with the total number of TP's and SL's hit for each session, as well as overall average total DD per basket.


Basket 1 TO: TP X 11 - SL X 8 - DD -15
Basket 1 LO: TP X 17 - SL X 9 - DD -32

Basket 2 TO: TP X 9 - SL X 6 - DD -14
Basket 2 LO: TP X 12 - SL X 7 - DD -13

Basket 3 TO: TP X 9 - SL X 6 - DD -13
Basket 3 LO: TP X 11 - SL X 7 - DD -13

Basket 3 TO: TP X 11 - SL X 1 - DD -31
Basket 3 LO: TP X 12 - SL X 6 - DD -27


EDIT: Please note that I use a VB for all these baskets and some days for some sessions they might not trigger, that's why the numbers are so low over a 9 week period. Having the VB has definitely saved me from some big losses! Also baskets are only traded from Tuesday to Friday, no trade on Mondays.

Hi Mrd , I guess that you will trade TO or LO this Monday on reverse.As there is several hours to start this experimentation, I can maybe help you on this since I will do not plan to open my weekly basket till tuesday. As for short term strategy (daily) I could not find anything consistent yet that could lead to trade on a live account. This might also explain why such a silence here on this thread... . So, if you need help in testing settings with different hours opening just PM or post here what would you like to be tested on this Monday open , and I will report on Monday NY close here ...

Back in business for basket testing. Now I just have the strength h4 basket and once again great results consistently.

Yes its true but I actually forgot to set the baskets in reverse last night and luckily enough this morning LO was a win for normal baskets, so if I had reversed them they would have hit SL.

As I see it, question to answer is ... and this is what i am measuring ...

is it better to run setups continuously -- set and forget -- or discretely -- stop and start

Premise of original FPB thread is that continuous is good and over time a steady money maker. Is short term good too.

To this end, im running several continuous setups ... open monday close friday and several discretes = dailys, 4hrs, 1hrs

The dailys are LO - NC. In this period, there are three potential 4hr setups -- that is when fresh signals are offered.

Am opening the hourly setups at same time as the 4hr's head to head to see which is better -- will pit these two sets up H2H during HIN to see results.

Posted morning screen shots at my twitter/gettoefl and will welcome participation and contribution of others in the task being undertaken.

We should test each others settings head to head with our own and report back our findings.

As Embry1 mentioned few weeks ago that ccfp performs better on weekly basis and Strength better on monthly basis ( if I recall well ..lol) .
I am Demo playing W1 settings with ccfp/strength at LO ...today MONDAY in Reverse mode. Strength went in profit inmediately and closed quickly.
Ccfp did the same ...towards its SL ...This is REVERSE .., so.

I realize that I should stick to a Head to Head comparison using allways the same settings instead of jumping like I do, from one to another like I do.
My testings are messy ...I do not use VB because sometimes it triggers sometimes not. I also change EA version ...and in this comparision today I realized that I used an older Xm7 which only takes ONE indi in consideration ..my fault ... . I will fix this before next Monday LO Reverse Opening with W1 ccfp/Strength comparing with/without NZD opening at GMT 8:15 .....the more I test , the more I get confused ..since I repeat I am messy ..looking for guidance to stick to a plan. ( like a kid , I can't be left alone ...lol) ... I might not be the only one ...haha. I do not have the records but last week ..It was just same results Strength to TP and Ccfp to SL ..but last Monday I forgot to Reverse ..lol ...so , I am totally lost.

Very interesting thanks. I chop and change my settings alot too. No big deal. Important to keep on testing.

Also had problems with the VB and have abandoned using it for now.

My continuous baskets -- similar to your W1 strength settings -- finished about -300 today. So it is cool your reverse worked well ... will test this next week.

Discrete baskets did pretty good today but had some problems with the EA resetting the counts.

Been busy with retirement and some other interests ...
I do agree that Monday's reverse appears to be a good option currently.
Trading Tuesday - Thursday still provides the result for live.
VB is a good option however as usual finding the best Trigger setting is an ongoing challenge with no hard solutions as yet.

Guys are any of you still keeping check of NZD and CHF pairs and if they are still the worst performers?

I've got a fresh demo account that I'm testing my top 4 baskets and I'm comparing the pairs in my TE to a previous older account. So far the NZD and CHF pairs are not doing great again after this month I'll check the data and see whether cutting NZD and CHf pairs is a good idea in reducing losses and DD.

think the reasoning of the VB is flawed

if you set upper limit, you are wasting pips gained, next opening new basket and then going into drawdown once again with both pips and time both wasted

if you set lower limit you are saying you have good idea where the market will turn ... noone does ... if market moves down it will probably continue

I use the VB upper trigger only, not the lower trigger. My usage of the VB is to reduce potential losses and DD. Lets say you set a upper trigger of 10-20 pips, initially the basket will open in in the VB with a DD from the spread, but once the basket starts moving in its direction and in a profitable one, it will will trigger the real basket and you have a pretty good idea knowing that it will continue towards TP. Yes you do sacrifice those 10-20 pips but if the basket is moving in the right direction that it triggered, you will most likely hit TP anyway, well this has been my experience so far.

Now this is where the VB really comes in and saves me, is for baskets that would go into loss. Many times a basket has opened and run straight to SL or huge DD, now with having a VB in place if it doesn't hit the 10-15 trigger the real basket won't open thus saving you from the potential loss and DD. Sometimes the basket will run in a DD in the VB and the trend will turn and move upwards an then trigger and hit TP. Many times I've been saved from losses when the VB didn't trigger at all. The VB also helps to reduce DD, cos when the VB will trigger it is already moving in profit so the only DD is from the initial spread.

Using a VB might not be for everyone and that's fine, but I've found a use for me and its working really well. some are using the profit lock feature but for me I can't get my head around it and still don't see why to use it, but that just goes to say that not all if us will see benefits in all of the EA functions. Personally though the VB function is a great addition that I love to use.

I have to agree with you here.

If you open a basket and it runs straight to stoploss well....your basket (indicator) is just plain wrong !

If you set a VB for 10 or 20 fixed pips it says nothing about the distance to a solid support/resistance or major fibo which could turn the basket against you.
It is more "the little train that can" or "if it can make 10 VB pips it can make 400 trading pips".

A VB is totally useless.
