I think Stop hunting depends on the contract type you trade. If you are offered to open pure interbank positions then institutional traders who have access to book and order flow may clear some near stops (like 10-20 pips). If you are CFD trader then broker can hunt your stops in case he makes market for you. And this should be clearly described in ToS

I have a suggestion.

What if we Google the kind or trade related software that Brokers are being offered by third parties to help them controll their traders.

What could we find

Stops are ran by the 5 big banks who run forex.
You can google the details, they move some 60 % of the forex volume, and have an open book to see all orders.
Swings are mostly moves between stop runs, the smaller the time frame the more they are ran, because it costs them money to move the market...the bigger the move the more they "risk".
Their only problem is the other big banks, though they mostly work as buddies, and hiding their cards to the rest.
They will often, "induce a move", like a spike up, one to 3 bars, trigger all orders long, come down sharp, run the stops.. and fly again north.
Moves are fueled by retail money.
Basically the industry is a transfer, from retail money to wholesale money, day in, day out.
Of course, add news, and broker slippage, and the recipee is perfect...you need to learn how to swim in these waters, "read" the big boys hands, and play with them, not against them

I love how this is almost equally divided where half the people believe yes and half believe no. I'll just toss in my 2 cents. The notion that brokers went after people stoplosses was TRUE over a decade ago! Almost a decade and half. The reality of the matter is 90% of traders just suck at being traders, Sorry the truth hurts. But like with cheese, age makes a trader better. As you get to stay and experience the lovely effects of the markets, you learn and adept. So no one is out to get you personally, its the nature of the beast.

Partly right. But dont for a minute ignore the fact that those who have control will simply not let people get away when they can just put out a few trades and absorbe their little trade.

Similar to the Casinos its all about taking what they can.

That said it doesnt mean that you cant outfox the big guys are their trails are all over the charts....you just have to know how to find them. The indicators cant get it done.....sorry indicator junkies

Itīs not about "believing", itīs about seeing the obvious, over and over again...
If your girlfriend cheated on you 1000 times, would you "believe " her in the future.
This is a USDCAD 30 minutes, I just picked randomly, pick any chart, any time frame, the same all over..
The trick is to use it to YOUR ADVANTAGE!...cause AFTER the run, the moves are substantial...

Agreed

Once its agreed its just a matter of trading in such a way that you can follow them like riding an elephant. Just stay with them close enough so you can afford their wild swings otherwise if you fall off you will be trampled!

After a while trying to unsuccessfully have a winning trade or two you develop a suspicion that:
"Brokers hunt my stop losses"

What is really happening:

The market will move in the direction that causes he greatest financial damage to he largest number of positions.

I believe in it, but i think, that it's true only for forex brokers, not for banks , for example.
Because price is ratio of supply and demand and really good traders should know where did newbies put SL!

If you're with an unbelievably crap broker then ye maybe.

Ironically the people who complain the most about this are the people trading micro lots.

I can't find the video on YouTube but I watched an interview with a fund manager who said when you're thinking of buying and selling, put the buy/sell order where you was thinking of putting your stop and see what happens. I never tried it but would be interesting.
