He was never shady he always tell people that the EA is for commercial only. He even shared his renko setting file which you can find on the thread.

In Tonys defense, he has always openly and publicly stated this. He does not advertise the commercial content in this thread, so it does NOT belong in the commercial section.

Does anyone know a *reliable* way to backtest renko bars? I have been using the script previously discussed, but it does generate gaps in the price, which means it isnt as reliable as it could be...

If you want to back-testing to reliable for Renko Chart, I suggest you download history data from https://tickstory.com for 99% backtesting results.
Or follow up me in forwarding test in the real market from me.

I AM using 99% tick data from Tickstory, it is the script that is creating the gaps in the chart, not the data itself...

Sometimes, I think it about the script or indicator of Renko builder to calculate not reliable. You maybe find new Renko builder.

I too have in mind to combine marti with ichimoku, glad someone already make the test for it.
Risk comes from not knowing what you're doing.
I have made mine more of a "recovery" than a "martingale", it still works in a similar way by increasing the position size after taking a loss, so I guess its the same thing.

I prefer the wording Recovery though

I dont want to go around in circles but as I explained above the tools give gaps in the data, that is why I was asking about YOUR results...

I believe it is not a matter of reliability, it rather removes candles with zero volume. The backtester probably would not start if they were left in the chart. The question is, whether they should have added a single tick to the every empty candle instead. Whatever, this script is very likely final, as they prefer their commercial product for the Renko tick testing (which I consider reliable).

So you purchased the product, and are happy with the results?

I am happy enough to pay for anything, as long as I know it works, and unfortunately there are a lot of dodgy operators out there pushing poor products...

Absolutely, I would not buy anything without a try-out. This one can be run for free, in such case it cuts short the generated chart.
I am happy with it myself, though I can imagine it could be better documented. If you watch the tester visual chart in action, it does not add artificial ticks on the end or beginning of the brick, and the zero volume bricks get skipped by the tick, while the chart still prints them.
