The first week of lessons with my old friend has ended, so far so good. Traded for 4 of 5 days in less than ideal conditions volume was very low, not unusual this time of year. Results 13 trades 10 wins and 3 losses. Avg. win 12 pips, Avg. loss 3 pips. Profit for the week $1116-

Well done Rocky! I must say your win ratio is awesome! What i admire most about your strategy and what i also think is the most important aspect is the timing of your entry! That is dumbfounding! As soon as you make your entry, almost always, price takes off in your direction.
If only i can master that! For me it is not a coincidence that i came across your thread and it would be tragic for me to turn out into a failed trader after coming across such a wealth of information!

Recently I Found a range bar EA for MT4 and I am using 10pips, daily Fib Pivot S R , Weekly H L, Ichimoku and AO. I am still trial this strategy so please don't ask me about OP TP SL, please learn it first.
Note for Fib Pivot S R level : S1 R1 0.382 - S2 R2 0.618 - S3 R3 1.000 - S4 R4 1.382 - S5 R5 1.618 - S6 R6 2.000

Please explain in laymans terms.
If CAD is positive side of the 4 hour power meter and CAD is the primary currency e.g. CAD/JPY should we be buying or selling.
If CAD is negative side of the 4 Power meter and CAD is the secondary currency e.g. AUS/CAD should we buy or sell

What are the exceptions to this rule. Can I use this 4 hour chart for long term e.g. day / week

you answer you own question jpy is showing negative so look for setup on jpy pairs to sell.

If CAD is positive side of the 4 hour power meter and CAD is the primary currency e.g. CAD/JPY should we be buying or selling.

In another slow, choppy, ranging day I stumbled across and traded a rare "Rocky" style classic breakout chart.
It's been much better for range trading lately, though!

(oops...please ignore that "Exit" notation in the upper left on the chart)

N/C (weakest/strongest) was the best trending pair near NY open, and good CAD news launched it.

Dwe213, I'm happy for you that you managed to be on the good side of the Cad trade. With the volatility and thin liquidity I understand there is a huge risk of your stop loss not being triggered at all and blowing your account if price had gone against you. Are you not worried about that? Also, is there any analysis that you do that gets you on the right side of the news or is it just assumption?

I gave the trade about a 55 pip Stop loss, knowing the CAD news would be out soon. I stayed in the trade because: 1) oil had been climbing steadily that day, ad has been trending stronger. 2) CAD had been strong that day. 3) The downtrend had been reliable for the past several hours. 4) The 15 min. top was rounded. 5) The last 2-3 five min. candles were showing a peak and starting a swing back down 10-15 minutes before the news came out. 6) More often than not the CAD news I've traded has moved in a single direction when the news is released. 7) Even if the news was bad, the worst I expected was a spike opposite my trade for 20-30 pips, then a resumption of the trend. 8) I asked Rocky about his opening trending trades like this before news, and he indicated that trading is art & science (don't have the exact quote, it's several pages back, and he held a similar trade through a news Release).

That's all the thinking that I did as the trade approached the CAD News Release. I hope it's helpful.
