Akt has often said that this approach applies to all timeframes. To test this for 'proof of concept' I scalped a couple of pairs today (both with news releases) on the 1 minute timeframe

Dear Ariel,
May I ask, what was RR ratio on your entries? How many pairs did you observe?

EURCHF Short in {image}

Hello Tophat Trader, I'm Gary ("ATX" - I'm from Austin TX)

I had the exact same entry set on that trade - Michael's video last night (last night my time; this morning his time, I guess) reminded me that Draghi was due to speak today. I hemmed and hawed about it, and decided to pull the order before I went to bed, anticipating there might be some volatility...

I still like it as a short. It's up in weekly supply at the moment. I think my plan is to watch for it cross back below the trend line (the trend line that validated the H4 supply zone we were both looking at), and get short for maybe a 2:1

Best regards

I was kicked out of EURUSD too, was 30pips near TP and it turned out to be -150pips... But a good lesson to learn from ECB

RR was admittedly no better than 1:1 (I have quite a bit of scapling experience so am confident of a high W/L)

I only observed GBP/JPY and EUR/USD due to UK and EU news releases today

I see. I think that this is more scalping then S&D technique. The latter deals with RR rather then with W/L ratio. Also it always seemed quite strange for me that institutional order flow works with minutes TFs. IOF, imho, operates large volumes, large portions of orders which cannot be fulfilled at a price with 2-3 pips accuracy. And we say "zone" not "level". Very interesting, what is the minimum TF, where S&D works? I noticed that the higher TF the better entries. At least, confirmation entry is impossible at low TF. And noise is too high, and wicks and stop losses triggering...
Dear Akt, if you read this, could you clarify?

Looks pretty nice. But why RR = 1 then? Could be much higher, imho. Did you try RR>3?

I'd like to requote Yunvic.
This M1 is looking good in the charts you've posted. I'm sure you've managed to get 4:1 in those 2 GBYJPY trades.

Tell me/us more about it.. Do you do a TDA like M30, M15, M1 or is the M1 the whole & soul in these trades.

@Yunvic and @vickybha:

Yes multiples of R were available on that move. Why have I been going for 1:1 during the earlier sessions?

Simple answer is volatility. That smooth move was in NY PM after the hustle and bustle had settled down. Earlier volatility was higher.

A good example is today's London open: both zones have held but looks at the volatility - my stomach can't take it.

Vertical line is Franfurt open:

If yours can or you can walk away from the chart you could have still made good R:R. Personal preference I think. I like to take a high probability bounce and move to the next opportunity, rather than letting it play out. There are plenty of opportunities as you saw from my trades yesterday. I somethimes take part profit and move stop to BE (all those 1 pip trades I made were BE being hit)

@vickybha Yes I do a TDA because I love context. If price is dropping to a 1 minute DZ and I know there is a 1H DZ 10 pips below it I will be sitting on my hands and just watching.

I think I'm polluting the core thrust of this thread if I keep posting short term stuff here (sorry Akt), it was just to show that this stuff works as Akt says, so for those interested there is another thread on FF that shows plenty of short timeframes (5M) S.A.D. trades if you want to look, many with good R:R, I don't particularly care for their fibs but the trade examples are wholesome:

not sure where you entered short ? -- always worth avoiding the news

but if you believe that news is there to help move the market to specific areas --

then look at daily trend for clues

eur/usd uptrend daily b4 speech dbr , rbr all signs of daily uptrend

what can stop a daily uptrend ?

looks like the news is helping to fulfill this
