I am creating this thread because recently i came across with a website which claims to have hacked into some most popular forex broker's database. The list goes like this:

  1. Hotforex
  2. Dukascopy (information missing though i did a quick google search & got a little bit details from this news website)
  3. Amana Capital (ease of access to clients data as shown in video scared me a lot)
  4. Blackwell Global
  5. eToro
  6. Netotrade
  7. 4XP

I spent almost an hour digging into their individual posts and after seeing all these i started feeling little bit worried about the safety of my personal or financial info which i have shared with my broker. I am not sure what security measures my broker has deployed to protect their clients data. Although every broker reassures that they have adequate security measures in place to protect client funds & data but then we come across with these sort of hacks.

I just would like to know from you guys, how do you guys consider whether you are providing your personal & financial data in a safe hand and what are the remedies available in case our financial information are leaked due to any hack incidents like this (i.e. can we file a law suit on broker in case it fails to protect our data from falling in the hands of hackers)?

You must first have a lot of patience to learn to have patience.

Thanks for sharing. Actually I doubt other brokers did more to protect their clients data. What I find more crucial is the ease of access to MT4 terminal (login and password). If you trade with large amounts of money, unauthorized access can cost you a lot, especially if you're profitable trader.

I don't think many brokers suffer from these specific exploits anymore as SQL DB requests and their vulnerabilities have been patched and re[patched and it all depends on the underlying communication between the front and back ends of the brokers infrastructure. For instance on our side we use Zend Framework at our backend. This sanitizes the input parameters for sql requests.

There are ALWAYS new vulnerabilities, but as long as databases are held offline and the communication protocols are protected between that DB and the front end, this isn't too hard to protect against.

I don't mind hacker know information about me. But I do mind if they know the password to my trading account and creditcard/debitcard number. That is far more important than my address or my relationship status.
This is not investment/trading advise. Will not hold accountable for loss
