On October 31st I opened a short on USD/JPY at 116.97 with s/l 117.65
On November 1st I moved my s/l to 117.48
On November 2nd I moved my s/l to 117.44
And on Novermber 3rd, I was finally stopped out due to nonfarm payroll news. But guess what traders, I was stopped out at 117.65!
I noticed the mistake and called them just now and explained to them the mistake. The guy was explaining to me it's called the slippage usually around news time. And price to act crazy. I was like, 'look, I know all about slippage, and I know that it usually occurs AROUND news time. And I'm not that kind of trader that takes advantage of news either' I told him I moved my stop loss a DAY BEFORE the news came out. So is he saying that even then, I'm affected by slippage!?!?
I was just lost for words. I cannot believe that this kind of slippage occurs with Oanda. But the guy did 'apologize' and told me he would get the technical team to look into it. I was like fine, bye, thanks anyway.
So folks, I learn every broker has their good and bad. And slippage is part of life. I just didn't think it would affect me this way though..
But oh well, I have 3 strikes you're out rule. IF this thing happens two more times again with Oanda, I have to find another broker!
If anyone trading with brokers that HONOR stop losses very well, please let me know so I can keep it in mind for future references...Thanks!
