Euro Question

Hi guys. Been reading here for some time, but this is my first post. I must say that I am VERY impressed with all who participate here. I am and have been involved on a number of forums, but you all are in a class of your own.

I have never before witnessed so many helpful, curtious people. You should all pat yourselves on the back.

I'm hoping someone can either answer, or direct me to where I might find an answer concerning the creation of the Euro. What happened to open positions of those currencies combined into the Euro?

Was there suffient warning to exit all positions? Were they simply closed? Were they adjusted to the Euro rate and made such? Just been pondering this since I was not observing the FOREX at the time, and now the GCC is talking of a similar move in a couple years.

Without doing the research and only going by Memory {old and, perhaps, untrustworthy} 2001. EUR/USD available to to Traders. {Europe still not melded. Calculations completed as to what percentage the Lire... etc... S/B of the Euro. (This is why UK did not aligne. Not enough available points left to share. IMO)}
To your Q? There was a concerted effort by credible Flow Throughs {Borkers} to ensure that your "Futures Positions" were 'Forewarned' of their impending fruitlessness. They also (at least mine did) had a failsafe "Liquidation" of all jepordized Trades prior to Rolling into Euros

That's about what I expected, but had no idea where to find it.

I've heard a few interesting takes on reasons the UK opted out. Partially pride, primarily seeing many economic dangers. It appears some who did join since reget doing so. If I recall corectly, a couple were threatening cessation not long ago.
