The FX Trading Station II platform update went through this past weekend. One minor thing to note, the Pivot Point is now found in the indicator list rather than being located in the row of buttons at the top of the chart.

And, one more addition to the chart I failed to mention last Thursday. A "Save Image As" option has been added to File menu at the top left of the chart. This will be helpful for adding chart images onto the forum. It will allow you to save the chart image directly to your desktop.

Cute. So you're telling me I WAS TARGETED!!! - I trade fairly large lotsizes and my account makes money so I can assume that I've been placed into a MT4 group with 'special' conditions. On Sunday I had 6 pairs open. USDCHF opened with a 100+ pip gap. BOOM!! my USDCHF trade closed with nice profit. Suddenly the platform disconnected with [Common Error] - Afterwhich MT4 would not reconnect for 4+ HOURS!! If was after 10pm Central time until I could login again. Every other platform I use was fine. I was pissed but not panicked because I knew FXCM would let me back in after a gap closing retrace or when they realized that its cheaper to let me cash out if the pairs were following the gap.

Of course the gap retraced and I lost huge potential profits. I've seen this crap too much to take it anymore. I can always bet that FXCM will have some 'weird' problems on Friday volatility or huge gaps. Its just the way they play the game. I'm fed up. After my last couple trades close I'm leaving. I dont need my broker AND the market against me!!

I've seen enough weird connect problems to recognize immediately what was happening. If it was only every once in a while I'd dismiss it but every time the market would give my EA an advantage. Some weird FXCM gremlin would raise its head. EVERY Time!! - I watched this behaviour for about 5 months. After Sunday, I'm just fed up.

These people are crooks.
Just wondering -- why not just call the trading desk (877-377-5077) to take you out of your trades? They start on Sunday at 5:00 PM. If you were trying to protect profits, why not just call them and ask them to take you flat?

I dont have single trades open. I often have 10-20 small trades open per currency. Across 6 currencies it can be over 100+ individual trades (no biggie since my floating DD is usually 9% or less). Thats why I have the strategy managed my EA. It would be messy and slow to have to manage this by phone. I've been using this custom EA for almost 2 years and it profits flawlessly. Its so reliable that I usually dont login to my VPS for weeks at a time. (even though I monitor a Myfxbook link constantly to track it) - Creating a working EA is hard enough. I don't need a broker that requires babysitting to try to catch them cheating. - Eventually I'll run it with Duka or IB through ProTrader (lets you run MT4 EA's on almost ANY platform) and skip these flaky bucketshops once I have a deposit large enough to deal with their lower leverage conditions. (1:50 IB, 1:33 on weekend/holidays with Duka)

Thanks for clearing that up for me, and good trading to you. If you come up with a fix to this broker issue, please be sure to post it here.

Is it advisable to reboot the VPS occasionally and restart MT4 so that every thing runs more efficiently?

You know I hear this argument all the time, but the answer is not really. There is no reason to reboot unless the software you're running has a problem and corrupts the running OS to the point where it's required, say a memory leak, etc..

sometimes your MUST reboot if you hang an app and can't kill the process. there are other reasons to reboot but just for the heck of it, no not really

windows updates often require a reboot.

Hi Aja,

If you were unable to login, then most likely everyone would be unable to login. And an outage of 4+ hours would probably have gotten a lot of attention on the forums.

During the 4 plus hours did you contact client services for technical support to investigate why you were unable to login? The support team is available 24/7 by phone and live chat during trading hours if you ever need help. And the trading desk is always there if you can't connect whether it be to technical issues on our side or your side.

Forex transactions on standard 10k accounts are executed via NDD execution and FXCM is not making a market. You can read more about our NDD execution here http://www.fxcm.co.uk/fxcm-forex-execution.jsp

Micro accounts are currently executed through the dealing desk where FXCM makes a market; however, all micro accounts will be transitioned to NDD execution as outlined on the micro website http://www.forexmicrolot.com/ltd-spreads.jsp.

all I tend to see are the bad ones from support tickets that make their way up the escalation chain and land on my desk. these include fxcm, fxcm uk, lite forex is all I can think of. Most every other broker I have worked with has responded to any issue or concern promptly and responsibly. and that is really the key thing - do they work to resolve any issues or make excuses for them, or even respond at all.

fxcm/fxcm uk because of their recurring/ongoing MT4 platform issues. I know they have another non-MT4 trading platform and I have not seen any issues with it.

lite forex because their support leaves a lot to be desired and it's difficult to work with them

thinking out loud, good brokers based on subscriber feedback and in no particular order....

ATC (who has some relationship with FXCM from what I understand, but does not seem to suffer the MT4 issues that FXCM does)

this is by no means a complete list and I do not know their policy on scalping. You will probably get better feedback on the good brokers by asking other traders in the forum. Unfortunately, I tend to deal with only the worst of the worst.

I know GoMarkets can have crazy fast execution but there are latency issues with their server being down under, which we are working with them to resolve and *hope* to make an announcement in the next few weeks.

They take FXCM's Active Trader feed and puts it through their own MetaTrader server via their own bridge. I hear that their bridge is far superior to the Boston Technologies' bridge that FXCM currently use.

Jason, I'm just wondering, with the billions in profits FXCM has scalped off the retail trading public in the past decade, why can't they spend a little on their technology and get up to speed with the best brokers. I watch my charts tick by tick and now that I've read CNS FXCM advisory, and I say this is unacceptable. I have witnessed old ticks and in fact have been hit on trades without ever seeing the tick arrive at my desktop. I went with FXCM active because Hotspot had such a great reputation and with FXCM money behind it I thought it would be hot, but clearly it is crap. I think you should scrap the party in Vegas and start investing more in your technologies and less on the marketing and fanfare. I feel I've been conned. I've had dozens of losses from trades that froze during key times in the market only to receive horrendous fills minutes later, erroneous ticks etc. I have a right to be angry. And don't tell me to file a complaint as I've done that and the customer service is non-existent. I'm with the other people on this forum who would like to see an improvement. Anybody reading this forum and considering FXCM, I would advise against it until they spend some of their deep pockets on providing a better solution. Until then you should really consider another broker. Don't be duped by FXCM.

Jason, I am on NDD, Active Trader. My problem is the delayed fills. For the tenth time this evening I've had to wait more than 10 seconds for a fill. This is supposed to be NDD?
