I was looking at the bullish divergence Alan. But as you say wait until opening time.

Thanks Alan, so if entry 1 was not taken at all, then entry 2 or 3 would be a valid 1st entry then correct?

Well we probably would have taken that first entry so the question is a mute one anyway.

Hope we are all long at the moment 40+ so far, just inching up the stops.

No that one got away from me, I was too focused on looking for a short because of the 1hr Div so no trade for me but looking back at it now with your signals it was above the 1hour ema so valid long signals when above the 1hr 26ema even with that 1hr Div in the background

So if im reading this right, we got a divergence on the hourly and a divergence on the 5 min, which could mean a pull back?, but overall we are bullish as the hourly MA has crossed

edit, Im thinking now i could of placed a hedge here.....

Yeah, its taken me a while to figure that out as well .... but this is the "trading cable swings via averages" thread. The other thing I am still not as sharp as Alan at is spotting the rsi/rsi divergences.

So for the last few days I have been getting good initial moves up, then it starts to range and the challenge is then getting back in.

from this point onwards are we watching the hourly to see if it stays bullish but then still looking for entries on the 5 min?

at what point do we decided we are short? if we return/break the previous swing low (on the 5 min)? MA average break on the hourly short

The 100 & 200 ma's are also significant ma's and getting the 5min div at the hourly 200 made me short it there with 5 a pip stop

That bearish div on the 5 min and the hour should be an indication to either close, hedge or short. However the 40 pip target has already been reached and the trade is closed looking forwards to tomorrow.

This is entirely what I am saying not to do.

Do not compare price to an average, the average is always chasing price and will always meet with it at some point.

Look at the 5 min the average has made the HH, that is all it is required to do, this trade is over and the profit is made.. From here on in new trades setup.

Who cares what will happen next it has nothing to do with the trade I have shown you to have a very high probability of returning a very good return for the smallest risk possible in the quickest of time.

The only reason we may consider another trade from here is if we have not yet made our profit but the probability is that these trades will not go very far.

I think it's a matter of just trusting Divergence because I have never used it, : it's seeing price continuing to go up or down but then buying or selling the opposite way in anticipation of the bigger move, but over the last fews weeks seeing the trades work out has given me confidence anyway!

Like many of you, I think Alan has done an amazing job with this thread.

He has clearly outlined his trading approach and has spent many many hours putting together posts, including screen clips, for our benefit. As the thread starts to expand I have started to notice that new people are struggling to understand all the nuances of "trading cable swings via averages".

As a first step to assisting new readers, I have done a dump of Alan's key posts since the start of the thread on November 18, 2018. The attached pdf document has 39 pages, so you will get to better appreciate Alan's contribution over the past 4 weeks.

Take the time to read Alan's posts and you will understand how to trade cable swings via averages.

Good then just test it for yourself with lesser amounts. This is the only way I know of to really come to grips with the processes, it is where you will find the flaws in yourself because it will show in your account. Ultimately we all have to learn to be disciplined in our trading.
