unfortunately if the historical data are not at least 90%, the backtests do not report real data

I think taking multiple trades across multiple pairs smooths out the downturns and upturns.
This allows you profit from an underlying principle without getting spooked out by a specific pairs behaviour. Bit like a hedge fund.

However..... (as per vianiahs post)

AUDUSD: over approx 1500 trades, equity gain of approx 860: that about 50c per trade?
EURUSD: over approx 3800 trades, equity gain of approx 1800; thats about 60c per trade?
GBPUSD: over approx 1900 trades, equity gain of approx 1300; thats about 60c per trade?
Or it that amount per "pip"? In which case, how much was risked per pip/trade?
If the amounts gained were over 18 years, is that a strong enough edge?

Is that a fair reading?

As you can see, when the market opened last night, the spread was 15+ pips.
The normal spread in that pair is like 0,6 pips.

This is happen often?

Hey all,

If your looking to avoid choppy areas where price is bouncing up and down the moving average, try to add a RSI 14 filter. 45/55.

If RSI is between 45 and 55, skip the trade.

Cheers

Hello traders See the attached results i get from my charts for January 2019. Although i don't take every trade in my real trading, and i certainly don't risk 4% per trade, i love doing these tests to see what's possible. The number in the far right bottom cell is certainly a great motivator. i take every signal in these tests, except the candle that closes African time midnight and 4am. my server time is GMT+2 i consider an outside bar a signal: high and low exceeds previous bar, no matter body colour of prior bar. for this test i did not apply...

Hello Helbor, thanks for sharing your backtest results. If I may, I would like to ask a few questions:

1) you mentioned that in your manual backtest, trades that did not hit 200 fib are considered losers, may I know if you move those trades to 100 fib when the prices hit 150 fib in your backtest/real trading? How's the result?

2) you also mentioned that you accept signals from outside bar (higher high, lower low, regardless of body size), may I know if you have a preference over the colors of the engulfing and the engulfed bars?

Hi All,

Is anybody testing this on different time frames? I'm testing at the moment on the 15m TF with success this morning on GBPUSD. Also, slightly different exit strategy, when trade reached 0.5:1 I moved stop to +1, then trail out stop on each candle.

See screenshot attached.

Hello JohnLee97

1. No, for the testing i don't move the SL. Too many winners get to 150, retrace past entry point and eventually hit 200. In real trading i know it's hard not to fiddle with the SL.

2. No preference for body colour.

I've tried many different variations of the original strategy to see if i can get better results, but there are losers no matter which way we approach it.

I will however make use of the ATR when trading very large signal candles, (and place my SL and TP accordingly) instead of trying to force a winner out of an exceptionally large candle.

And EUR CAD now
I am suspicious on Monday morning because Sunday candles mean nothing.
I watch New York Close Forex Charts only to avoid the noise.
