i have done a bit of reading about the vegas 1hr tunnel method and would like to play around with it, but if i am not mistaken it is a plugin, and i am not sure if it will work with my demo account. my demo account is with oanda, if it will work with this or you have any available information that would be very appreciated, thanks

The FF Vegas Forum here at:
http://www.forexfactory.com/forexfor...splay.php?f=70
has all the info u need.

Oanda will not work for using the Vegas plugins. Get an MT4 acct. I suggest a non expiring one from strategybuilderfx.com. USe the MT4 for charting and Oanda for trading as u can trade small in the beginning while u learn. Good Luck to you.

MrGreen shared the right idea for how to go about this MrSpot : )
For over a year i've traded via my FXSolutions tradestation when entering/exiting actual orders, but i've been using the MT4 charts for technical analysis and backtesting systems. MT4 is a great tool in your arsenal.

i'm having a hard time trying to get the vegas plugins working on MT4. i saw a post with a link on another thread, on how to set it up, but the link isn't working. i went to the tunneltrading website and tried to download it and it asks me if i want to unzip it so i do and nothing else happens. this may seem like a bit of a silly question but i am not that familiar with how plugins work. i am assuming that the file needs to be saved someplace in MT4 but i haven't had any luck with it. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Any new traders who are wanting a solid system to trade on need not look further. The 1Hr Tunnel Method is a solid strategy that can even be traded manually relatively easily.

Matter of fact, the trades in the 1Hr Tunnel method are often longer than my swing trades, and should be considered a swing strategy.

For those of you new to trading, this is important, as determining what kind of trader you are by identifying your personality is the first step that you should undertake before you even hit the Buy or Sell button...

Thanks MrSpot,

I just figured out that it's MT4 itself that is causing the issues, not letting me install any custom indicators.

I had SBFX installed from another account I used to have and the indicators are installing fine into it...so I'm just going to swap platforms.

Thanks again.

Please help. I was hoping I could back test Vegas's Method (BTW, thanks Vegas for your great insight!) using the strategy tester in MT4. However, I am getting the following "error" in the screenshot below. Can anyone please help decipher this and maybe suggest a way to fix this so I can run the tester?

Thank you!
Pimpinpips

What EA are you trying to test? Are you trying to load an indicator by itself and test it?

I downloaded the EA from Vegas's web site, tunnel method 1 hr. Here is another screenshot of my settings screen for the Strategy Tester.

As far as I know there are no EAs on the Vegas website. There are only indicators on the tunneltrading.com site. My best guess is you are trying to backtest an indicator. I may be wrong because there could always be an EA floating around I haven't seen. Without looking at the code I can't tell for sure. Are you sure it is an expert not an indicator?

I just learned something new nvwine. You guessed it. It is an indicator and not an EA. Obviously, I can't run the backtest on an indicator.

Thank you for hanging in there with me nvwine.
