Can't get ex4 file to work.

I'm having trouble getting a ex4 file working (to show up). I copied it to the "experts" folder so it shows up under Expert Advisors, and no matter what I do, it wont work. It is shaded gray while my other ones are blue if that makes a difference. Expert Advisors is enabled and the other ones that are blue are working. Anyone have any ideas?

could be a couple of things. You may not have all the files needed to run, in other words, it may be looking for a file that plots a trendline or whatever and it is not there. Check in the journal and/or the experts tab to check for errors.

when you attach the ea to the chart does the ea name show up in the right hand corner? If it does what symbol shows up right after the name? Smiley face, frowning face, x or what??

the fact that it is greyed out just means that you don't have the mq4 file to edit the EA with. It doesn't have any impact on whether or not it runs.
Are you sure it is an expert?

thanks for the reply. This was very helpful! I checked the experts tab, and it said, "Laguerre-ACS1' is an indicator and cannot be executed.

The file is an ex4 file. I downloaded this file from:
http://forexfactory.com/showthread.php?t=48926

The exact file name is Laguerre-ACS1.ex4. Isn't that an expert advisor file?

Also, it wont attach to the chart like the other ones under Expert Advisors, so I never see any face.

The filename ends in .ex4. I'm assuming it's an expert file?

Ok, I see. I have to put it in the Indicators folder. I did that, and it just loaded. I just realized it wasn't an Expert Advisor. Thanks for your help guys!
