I think one successful method of trading is to trade in longer timeframes (1hr or longer charts) hold your postion (at least 2 weeks) and trade the trend using a MA. However, I have read posts before that say things like "never hold a position over the weekend", or "close your postions before major news announcements", etc. If you are trading with longer term charts and close your positions on Friday and re-open on Sunday, and also close your postions before news, and re-open after news, you are substantially increasing your trading costs due to the cost of the spread. Seems like the only other alternative would be to use a high stop (probably at least 75p or more) and trail it and ride out the news announcemnents and hold your positions over weekends. Do any of you hold postions 2 weeks or longer, and if so, how do you handle major news trades and weekends?

Ignored
I trade 1H,4H charts.I do not feel any trouble with weekends.Just keep stop at feasible place so that it is not hit unnecessarily. If you have a trade in red then how can you close it before news or weekend?
