Hell yeah, One day I'll be supporting them through trading entirely.
I dream, therefore I become.

I said "Yes, somehow" but mostly because I interpreted that as "Yes, somewhat."

She really likes trading too. She even went to school with me at Online Trading Academy knowing nothing about trading or even the markets in general. She ended up liking it a lot, especially charting, she says it's like a puzzle to her.

Now though, when I'm glued to the computer for hours on end, getting up in the middle of the night for news announcements, and generally eating, breathing, and living trading, she isn't so happy. She feels I'm going overboard and being obsessive.

My argument is that I know myself well enough to forsee how this will go. I am obsessive at first with any new thing I approach. My interest level is off the charts and my knowledge level seems so inconsequential at this point as to be nonexistent. Whenever I "get into" something new, I always sprint in an effort to get up to speed and learn enough that I feel comfortable with it, just enough to be effective. Then, my energy level subsides and I become a bit more balanced with my interest vs. other things. Problem is, with trading, just getting to the effective level could take a considerable amount of time.

I find it the most effecient way for me to become proficient. Usually any attempt to curtail this process ends up with me getting bored and losing interest. I try to explain this to her, but she isn't happy about it.

What have you guys done/had to do to get through this?

Hmmm, I had a wife, had a girlfriend, and the two snakes, cat, and saltwater fish don't seem to mind the trading aspect at all. If I had a wife or girlfriend I'm sure I would make time for them regardless in order to keep things 'cool'. The business of trading can take up a great deal of time. You must find the corrrect balance Grasshopper. Then and only then will you find your purpose in the Universe. Damn I've got some killer toe-jam going on right now....Hey, peace out!

Yes, I did mean the answer to be "Yes, somewhat" but can't edit it anymore.

My wife is fully supportive. She has taken each class/training, and we are learning the same model to assist in each other's trades if need be.

We have so much in common! One of her many questions before we were married included if i liked "Football". LOL. I said that i didn't even know what sports season it was. After that she knew she had found her prince

My wife fully supports my trading. She likes the income, but she also likes that the career is much less demanding than my other business of 20 years and she gets to see more of me. She is a Jr. High school principal, (starting this year) her self, so her interest is not in trading. I have always encouraged her to pursue her interests and she has always done the same. After 32 years, we know each other pretty well...

At first my wife thought I was crazy and just throwing my money away ... that was three years ago.

Now my trading pays more than the day job and once I fulfill some financial objectives, I will quit the day job and trade "full-time".

Hmmmm.. I really haven't asked her how much she's willing to support me..
I'll go ask her later..

But yeah, my wife does support me but I still have a feeling that she has some hesitance but she's just not saying it... Or again, I think it's just me..

But so far, she's been very supportive. I think it's just me who thinks she's not being supportive too much.. hehe.. talk about being blind/greedy..

So I'm not posting my vote until I've asked her.. But I think I fall on the Yes, fully..

Okay, I think I'm getting paid by the word here.. hehehe..

My wife fully supports me. Without her I couldn't proceed. Whenever, I lose a trade I really feel ashamed but she encourages me and helps me to move forward.

I voted Yes Fully! My wife is 100% behind me. Although I do make time for just "us". If I didn't my trading would take up all of my free time. I'm really lucky that my wife is so supportive. It goes both ways though.

My family is extremely supportive in whatever I do. Both my parents are teachers - I couldn't be any luckier. That's why I need to take on responsibilites outside of my own life.

I don't have a girlfriend right now - haven't for a while now, haha

It's good because I can stay up all night and work (after work)...although it hurts to have a soul frozen in time, being single is still probably the best thing for me right now. It'd be nice if that changed soon though

Yes, she supports my trading whole-heartedly. In fact, we trade together. She is an incredible woman and supports everything i do. The fact that we are doing this together has brought us even closer...even though we are not profitable yet.

Mainly because I work with computers and trading involves computers ... she doesn't like the computer ... but she likes the pips ...

When I start trading full-time, she said she'll be happier .... ... because I have more time for her ...
If it is not broken, fix it until it is!

Add a 5th choice which would be bit more suitable for me:

"No, but I don't give a rat's ass"

My family doesn't really support me trading but they don't interfere either.
How you act is more important than how you feel.

Is not this poll somewhat sexist? Like a lot? This is also true of the title of this thread.

I would suspect that women may have similar family issues to men, but I am not sure, since I have never had a wife, girlfriend, husband or boyfriend--never had time.

Althoughn I am sure that the majority of participants here are male, it is certainly not the totality. Would it not be more politically correct to specify spouse or even live-in rather than wife and girlfriend? As to myself, I am too old to give a damn about such questions, which as I said have never really applied to me. However, if they had, I would have felt offended at being excluded.

I am a female trader. Divorced. I also have a full time job. Friday's and Saturday's nights are for sleeping. The rest is watching charts, looking for a good setup to trade, learning (after 5 years in markets, yes, still learning) and taking a quick nap between alarms.

I wish somebody that spends only hour or two a day trading and has good profits and a lot of free time would share their experience with me. I'd appreciate it. I like what I am doing, but I lost most of my friends, have no time for community events, even telefone calls somtimes are so.... "not a good time to talk, sory, dear, later"

To tell the truth, basically, I am not even interested much in anything else, because Forex contains so much information, so many interesting events, so many interesting theories, discoveries and plans... (in previous to Forex life I was a designer, so my charts are pretty ). But I'd like to sleep a little bit more.
