Very good bistolis. I don't know how you held on through that big pull back, I know I couldn't, but if that's your style and it works for you then keep on doing it. How did you feel when you saw PRICE going against you and why did you not buy again after the pullback. Thanks.

{quote} I think you are making it too complicated for yourself I hope this makes more sense. At the top you have some nice PA showing you resistance after that shooting star. I marked a few entry points once it started moving lower, and by that time the trend is reversed. {image}and then same thing again at support on the downside

Seorsian, your 15/5/1 analysis is good, which is similar to mine when I am looking for my first entry, but once I am in, then I just watch how PRICE is moving relative to PRICE and TIME. Sometimes, there is no need for the 15/5 as it is clear on M1 as to what the Big Boys are doing. After that, PASR/Strat Shadow will show you the way as long as you understand when trending PRICE changes to ranging PRICE. However, I agree 100% with bistolis but if this works for you and is your style then keep on doing it.

Check my tips from older posts:

Trade the Meat of the Trend - don't look to get in at the top or out at the bottom - that is where $$ are given back/lost.

Follow the footprints of the Big Boys - they cannot do anything without leaving their footprints behind

Study the TEST and RE-TEST of PASR - bistolis identified this on your chart. Check my entries and exits to see more examples BUT do not try to trade like me - no-one can trade like me just as I can't trade like anyone else, we are all unique as traders.

Thanks for posting and keep posting your progress

I was risking it at the point. When I saw a nice fat shadow I wanted to risk expecting a push towards the current direction with the news. When it spiked against me, well, there was nothing really to do as to wait what happens next. And what happened next is that I chickened out and didnt add to the move (the market agreeing with me being long). Learning as I go.
The exit was pretty close to where I saw the big timeframes creating resistance.
After that point my emotions were high and I stepped back. On hindsight PA was very nice and orderly on the downmove, but nothing to regret.

In hindsight, the DOW would have been a much smoother ride albeit less profitable.

We have a projected power outage at 9am until 3:30pm so I guess that's me done for the day

in the first place i was tempted to take the blue circle but the retracement was steep and i would have been taken out at 0.X pips.

PA has been indicating good entries on shorter TFs, however, my perspective have also been augmented by few observed insights often useful in trading indices, DOW included.
This is still "earning season" and DOW likes to make large moves in all direction eventually finishing positive on these days, getting well above the last session close. The gap has been well filled with a good overspill. Wednesday was not an exception, but the final move up came after the FOMC chairman speech, which did not signal anything drastically new, since the reaction of many points. Then META earnings after the close, and now DOW is setting similar dance for Thursday session. I almost posted similar post last night, but thought twice and have not done it.
Tomorrow is a good day for similar action as big companies are declaring earnings. So like at the last several Earning days, Dow might go well below the NYSE session close, and eventually finish high, hitting a good pivot zones well above the daily Pivot, or FIB RET/EXT if one uses them.
https://www.ii.co.uk/investing-with-...arnings-season

M15,M5 M1 gearing have really indicated well the expected move up, especially the mid session one and the final move up and down in preparation for Thursday.
I usually enter the initial trade on M1/M2 and then manage it looking on additional TF like M5 and M15/M30.
M5 is a very useful in fast moving moments, keeping an eye on volatility index and USD index, just in case there is something unusual happening there.

Just a game and dance the PA does, which have very little to do with whats going with economy long term.
One has to lough at some comments made on CNBC or Bloomberg, but CNBC useful for news/data release, which is fast enough for me.
Celebrating discipline.

So far DOW is following the path, DOW down 140tish points -0.41% while S&P500 is up +0.38% and NASDAQ up +1.2%, where is DOW more likely to go?
DAX up +1.3% as well
