MT4 Position Size Calculator Excel Spreadsheets

I designed two position size spreadsheets in excel that work with MT4. They import the ASK price from the MT4 platform and calculate the correct lot size to risk whatever percentage you choose. Be sure to check "Enable DDE server" under Tools->Options->Server for the spreadsheet to work.

You need to type in your equity and the percentage you wish to risk. Next, the size of your stop loss next to which ever pair you are trading. Lot size and profit targets in pips and percents are calculated off to the right. Lot sizes take into consideration losing the spread. IBFX spreads are used and you can change this in the formula in cells D18 through D36.

The buy and sell section at the upper right is just a guide to calculate risk/reward ratio. The carry rates do not update by themselves. Basically, any block with a color needs your input.

very cool. but i cant get mt4 to work with it. also, i dont see the enable dde server option. i have excel 2003

Are you looking for "Enable DDE server" under Tools->Options->Server in the MT4 platform? It seems like you are looking for it in Excel.

Thats the best trade size calculator I have ever seen. It means you get accurate calculation quickly so you dont miss getting good entries. Thanks for sharing this

From what I researched the only data you can import to excel from MT4 is Bid, Ask, High, Low and Time. It would be nice to get more information from MT4. How far price is from a moving average would be great to know about.

nice work...pity I dont have excel and under openoffice my quotes go bonkers.....8eg 6,7944 usd/cad!) though I can't find a viable reason why...

any ideas..or do I have to meekly straddle back into Mr. gates' court?

try

=DDE("MT4";"BID";"USDJPY";1)
instead of
=DDE("MT4";"BID";"USDJPY")

works for me

great...works here too...thanks....but just realized..if I'm correct and the lack of sleep hasn't frazzled my synapses....that it will work only for long postions...being that for short ones the formula should read..."bid"...not a real issue..just have to restructure the layout to add the same for shorts..or do it on another workspace...again..if i am seeing this correctly.

Here is the ODL version with CAD/JPY added and lot sizes are calculated with the ODL's spread. Also, Sheet 2 has an area to manage fundamentals.

I bump this great tool...

I'll test it but it works only for certain pair and not all... Maybe the price cannot be updated properly if the market is closed ?

My bad, it was the number separator that was set to , on my excel when figure are showing with a . separator...

Fixed and working !

Everyone should use this tool for compounding and risk management

i haven't been as dilligent as i should have with my m/m, so went serching for an spreadsheet to help. finding one as good as this was unexpected. i have changed the layout a little to suit my trading but not much. this is great!!

Simple spreadsheet which I use to perform trade evaluation. Compilation of ideas are from various sources.. most I cant remember where I read them from..

p.s: I use ODS so hope the xls conversion works fine too..

The standard position size calculator is great, really useful. Is it possible to make the equity update automatically as well?
