Inverted spread? What happened?

Hi, some minutes ago I relized that for more or less 1-2 minutes, the spread in my platform became negative, I mean, positive for me, I felt tempted to place a position and close inmediately for a quick scalp but since this has never happened me, I felt afraid that something nasty would occur so better didn't.

I took a screenshot, at this moment the spread was -0.4 but stayed in -2.0 for a while before i took it.

Has somebody experienced this?

There is a post in the EFX thread about this occurrence. If I remember right, they said it was when a liquidity provider's system got "stuck" and didn't update properly.

They also said that the price would not be honored since it was a glitch in the system, so it wouldn't help to trade it.

Thanks Terry, I used the search feature but the word "Inverted" never came to my mind.

I found the post you coment, they say that inverted spread sometimes happen when news, and interbank systems get dizzy, but last only milisecounds, and if you hit the buy/sell button you might not get filed, or get filed but before you place the close position order the spread might be normal again, so, it's suposed to be posible, but very unlikely to exploit. The funny thing is that there were no news at the moment, and in my platform the wrong price lasted more than 2 minutes, and after that, happened again with GBP/USD a couple of hours later, this time only for a few secounds. I did notice this behaivour the sundays but when the market is already closed, maybe happens lot of times but since I almost don't watch the prices but the charts, didn't notice, and now because the new spread indicator is in the platform, it's easier to realize such thing.

It's a rather weird occurrence for sure. Now, if we COULD take advantage of it, imagine the possibilities.

2 years ago i has a mini-live account with cmsforex, and something like that happened there too, i was buying usd-jpy, and found my position in profit as soon as it was opened, then looked at the spread, and they (the spreads) was negative
So i close it to a 4pips gain, and tryied to re-open again (i was looking to do it again and again lol ), but it has not worked anymore (it gived me an "error message")!
Sometime it can happen, but i think that the broker will become mad if see you taking advantage of these errors!
