Hi All

Does somebody know what happened with a trailing stop on MT4 (FXDD)... it looks like it changed behavior, at least on FXDD...

Now trailing stop starts to act just after price is above your trade price on range set.
Example:

Trade price (buy): 1.8050
SL is set: 1.8000
Trailing stop is set: to 50

In this case it starts to move SL just when current price (bid) reached 1.8100...
Is it OK?? I think it should move SL immediately as price is going on your favor... let say bid price is 1.8060 Trailing stop should move SL to 1.8010... an so on

Any thoughts...
Regards

Since I've traded live with FXDD (a year now) it is as you explained.
Trailing stop starts moving after profit is equal to the trailing stop.
Is it OK or not I don't know, but I would like to have option that
stop loss starts moving right away.

Thanks Jas for responce.

I think it is very bad that trailing stop works in this way in FXDD... as far as I remember in FOREX.COM it starts to move from first pip in your favor..

Can somebody describe how it works with other brokers...

That's the way trailing stops work in Metatrader, if you're using that as your terminal it doesn't matter what broker you use. The minimum trailing stop is 15 pips, in your example with the trade entry at 1.8050, the stop would kick in at 1.865 bid and be set to 1.850 bid, from which point it will move up pip by pip until price retraces 15 pips.

Hi Danbgs,
Thanks for info.

I order to test which method is better I've made a trade on MT4 and forex.com platform that provides a trailing stop that starts to move SL right away… and Trailing stop that move right away gave me better results…
Also in order to use Jacko method I need this behavior..

I hope that some MT programmer from FF forum can program this on MT4 or may be script exist already..

Can somebody help???

Thank you

I'd kill for an EA or script that could do this. This is probably my biggest complaint against MT4.

Thanks for the link, IPip. I haven't looked because I didn't think it was possible to alter a hard-coded function within the platform. Now I know better.
