Where is there a good broker I can demo from? And what's a good free up to date stock screener? thanks

What made you come to this conclusion?
You need to be careful you don't go out of the fry pan and into the fire.

Can we help in some way? It could be a few simple things that are road blocking you.

http://stockfetcher.com/ is very good as well as it allow one to filter/find stocks via a lots of technically analysis (even candle sticks pattern) and a report sent via email when market closes. I like it because of its great flexibility when applying various indicators e.g MACD, MA, Stochastic etc....(but it does not have Ichimoku Kinko).

I did go with the free version initially but went with the paid version after a period of time and I am glad to say I have gotten my money worth (for the year) after 2 trades.

agreed. used to follow fx-ray he left because of trolls and wannabe tryhard self made millionaires. the only who was real. if u find a good forum let me know ty

I have never experienced what you have, this is the best website I've found I used finviz.com for stocks and also has good charting and insider trading

It's just in general a bit too manipulated in the way price moves and theres too many factors involved in price movement..too many crossed pairs is what I feel a problem could be. I feel with stocks perhaps the manipulation is a little bit more contained.

I feel like the same rules of trading learned from forex can be transferred over to stocks. I just need time and knowing what exactly I'm looking for first (ie: high volume to avoid liquidity issues, fundamental events, avoiding perhaps bigger stocks like google or apple, and whatever else there is etc.)

So basically just learning the basics of stock screening, being up to date on information in that area, and knowing what I'm looking for is about all. From there I'll accept whatever happens.
Oh, you're in for a bad surprise if you believe stocks aren't just as manipulative as Forex.
As long as your a retail trader and don't have insider info or at least a privileged position with your house bank, the only thing you can do is make sure you have good MM. It might be an cliche answer, but whether it be forex or stock (picking) if you get greedy and overtrade (or pick too random), you'll crash and burn.

If you want steady profits: spread your wealth over ETF's (SPY, VOO, etc.), sell from time to time and buy back on corrections.

If you want lots of emotions like fun and sadness, stick to FX

All markets are manipulated, you just have to try and avoid those times.
Ok have a break from it and don't trade big again until you have been consistently profitable for a year.

I feel that perhaps you haven't given it enough time and didn't have the right tools and an appropriate trading strategy.
You really need to find out what your weaknesses are and to gradually eliminate them.
Did you have the right tools?
Did you have sufficient preparation before trading?
Did you avoid periods when your strategy wasn't going to work?

Changing instruments won't help, concentrate on a few (even 1 pair and become very familiar with it).
Perhaps you'll need to go up 1 or 2 timeframes?
Having a trading plan with clearly defined trading rules which you'll have to obey is very important.
Moving to shares is again moving into the unknown.
How much do you know of each company?
Are the trading times suitable?
Perhaps indices would be better for you?

Actually stocks and shares are easier to trade, currencies are manipulated but so are indexes and share the thing is currencies are prone to stick in ranges so depending on your strategies ie breakout trading you are likely to get fried. Currencies can be traded but you have to understand what to trade and what not to trade selection is key.
Unfortunately FF is really just a hen party. Once people learn how to trade successfully there is no need to be here.

Stocks are just a different set of problems to overcome. More manipulation there I think.

I agree with what you've said. Forex is "harder" as many believe it is, only because the market tends to move a lot. Stocks is much "easier" only because it doesn't move in any direction much at all. Don't believe that stocks aren't manipulated, simply look up "SHO LIST" and that will give you insight of how manipulated stocks actually are.
Another thing to note is that people trade currency as they should stocks. Currency should never be invested in, as the price can drop or increase 500 pips within mins, and recover that loss/gain in the same amount of time. If you can't make money in currency then it is better to stay away from any type of exchange market. Why do you think most of the high impact news in stocks occur "PRE-MARKET".... Even 9/11 occurred "PRE-MARKET" so you could simply be wiped out in stocks in the same way you would be in forex.

How long have you been learning for and roughly how many hours have you been putting into learning a day?
