I like CMS with VT Trader. VT is easy to program and imho anybody who is smart enough to do Forex can figure how to program VT. But you can probably find what you want with the stock bots that come with VT. if not just go to
http://www.cmsfx.com/en/platform/forum/ and http://www.visualtradingcharts.com/ to hunt for Trading Systems (bots).

If all else fails talk to Claude here at the FF Claude is the BEST in the world when it comes to programming VT indicators and an all around good person to boot.

Oanda have a simple interface, although it costs $600 for the API then $600 pm once you're running. However the offer up to 100% discount depending on how many lots your system trades

You should look into the MT4 platform, there are many brokers that use it, it's free, and it's probably one of the best for automated trading.

Check out www.strategybuilderfx.com and www.forex-tsd.com for more info on coding for it.

I would beg to differ. Having to learn a language like C is daunting...

I would suggest Tradestation. They're not the best broker in the world, but they're the standard in systems development and automation. They've been around for a long long time.

And their EasyLanguage is very powerful, and isn't called Easy for nothing... why learn C when you can learn a scripting language that makes sense and is just as powerful in trading development?

What do you "beg to differ" with? I said it's probably one of the best, and it is, because your best options are MT4 or Tradestation. Tradestation looks good too, but I haven't used it myself personally, which is why I recommended MT4.

I guess I gravitated more towards it because I'm a Computer Engineer and I've coded quite a bit in C. It makes MT4 seem quite easy to code in because you already know the language. I'm sure EasyLanguage is great and all but I guess it depends on where you're coming from.

Anyways, I hope that helps.

You kinda made my point in that you're a developer. Of course you like it because you already are proficient in C.

But most guys aren't. God knows I'm not patient enough to learn C (I've tried... I code a mean "Hello World"...but that's about it.)

I'm probably like the majority of guys. Scripting is no big deal. I have a UNIX background... and it's easy to learn.

And that means it's easier to learn for the mass of serious traders out there...because most people are not C programmers.

My point was just that companies need to basically make it as easy as humanly possible to code and develop systems. Having to learn how to code in C, which basically means we're asking traders to become programmers, is just not realistic, and so thus, an easy language to learn, a good product with good automation, is what I recommended...

Just my $0.50...

Yup I agree. I haven't looked into EasyLanguage that much, is it really that much easier? I haven't taken a good look into it but when I glanced at it before it just seemed like just another language.

It is for non-hackers.

if XAverageOrig(Price, 20) of 1 bar ago is greater than XAverageOrig(Price, 34) then Buy("LE") 2 contracts at market ;

Hehe ok I can see how non-coders would find that easier.

To me though, it looks like a mess.

I used to program in C and C++ and such but now I use Python. If you want to learn to program and write simple scripts, learn Python. (python.org) It is free and easy to learn. I suggest you try "How to Think Like A Computer Scientist". It is a tutorial in the beginners section. It was written for high school kids and is great. Once you know Python you can do anything, and most of what you learn translates into lower level languages like C. Python is written in C and you can even get the source code if you want. Check it out.

I don't know EasyLanguage but I learned MetaQuote a few weeks ago. I don't know C. Although they say MQL is similar to C it is very easy to learn. It took me a few hours to find out how it works. There are many built-in standard and custom indicators in there that you can easily create your own Indicators and/or Expret advisors.

I will give EasyLanguage a try in the near future though.

Have fun,

They ask for a nominal fee to join their forum. Does it really worth it? Are you a member? What do they offer exactly?

I'm with you, fizzleboink! Where's the malloc??? And the printf is now a print. Geeesh, what could be easier? But I guess if you don't have years programming experience, it does seem daunting. I'm an old time Unix systems programmer and these new point and click development languages have always befuddled me. Let's bring back memory dumps!

I spent this last holiday weekend playing and trying to implement MuddBuddha's simple forex system on MetaTrader4. The best I could get with about 6 hours work was to break even. Of course, I'm still very inexperienced with trading and that may have been part of the problem. But I have not been able to find the right settings that keep me from either getting whiplash in a ranging market or over tuning the system until it hardly makes a trade.

Anyway, it's a hoot and I absolutely love programming it! So I'll keep trying and who knows maybe someday.....? I really like MQ4 and I think there's enough examples that someone who works at it can learn it - even without programming experience.

I have been demoing an "fx auto" account with good results. They have many automatic trading systems you can use at the same time. Its also server based so your computer doesn't need to be connected to the internet all the time like with metatrader. But I have read bad things about fxdd as a broker. They also don't pay interest on deposits.

FXCM will auto-trade your FX trading system for you, if you give them your Omega Trade Station code.
