Hi All,

Don't know what I've done, but my terminal window ( list of open trades, account etc ) in MT4 is now in a tiny separate window outside my main MT4 client. I can't for the life of me figure out how to get it back within the main client.

I have tried shutting it down, starting again, dragging it to all sorts of places, CTRL+T numerous times and opening and closing it through the View menu. Does anyone have an suggestions?

Thanks

Drag it in the bottom left corner ... it should re-attach to the platform.

Afraid that doesn't work

In addition I can manipulate the size of the undocked panel, but the data in it doesn't change size - it all seems a bit buggy.

I'm running MT4 in Wine on my mac, if that has any relevance.

Got it!

Had to drag it into bottom left pixel by pixel - seemed there is a pixel size sweet spot. Thanks Ferrufx. much appreciated

Have you tried simply double clicking on the blue bar that contains the word "Terminal" ?

Agreed Gumrai - should be able to just double-click on the titlebar:

No, that doesn't work. I think it's because I am on a mac running wine. It's a right pain in the arse at the moment.

I think that trading with water (or maybe coffee) would be more reasonable

Wine takes away my nerves

Fixed it anyway. For anyone who reads this at a later date, I added the strategy tester and placed the terminal above it. It made the sweet spot easier to find

Thanks for your help!

Hi guys,

I'm having the same issues, running MT4 on Mac with Crossover,
when double clicking on a window like terminal, data window, market watch or strategy tester, I uncouple this window from MT4 and i get a small seperate window loose from the main screen.
I managed 2 times accidently to get it back by trying to move it to the bottom left corner, but now there are still 2 windows open, market watch and strategy tester and for the hell, I don't get those back into place.

Is there anyone who has a sound solution for this on a Mac, a shortcut or anything, I've read to MT4 user guides and it's just not written in any manual so far.

Thanks for any advise!

Looks like it is a mac-only bug - I get the same thing with Mac Wine MT4. What a load of BS.
I've manage to accidentally redock a couple of windows, but it is below par. We wouldn't get this problemis Bill Gates hadn't made Windows so terrible in the first place.

I had absolutely no luck finding that "sweet spot" where the navigator window would dock into the main window, so I opened the data folder (File --> Open Data Folder), closed the MT4 app, opened the data folder of another MT4 program that behaved correctly, and copied the Config folder from that one into the one with the problem navigator window. Opened the MT4 program back up and voila, the navigator window was now docked correctly. I did have to log into my account again, but that was the only inconvenience.

In the MT4 config folder there is a terminal.ini file that holds info about your current setup. I found (through trial and error) that if I copy that file from a working MT4 setup with all windows docked this fixes the issue. So now I just keep a copy of the terminal.ini file in my config folder. If I accidentally double click on a window and undock it. Just need to replace the backed up version of terminal.ini.

I am having this issue at the moment. Am running metatrader 4 through wine on a macbook, and both the 'standard' and 'charts' toolbars have become undocked and I cannot get them to re-dock. Have had this issue with the market watch and navigator windows in the past, and the repeated trial and error drag and drop method worked, but hasn't seemed to with these toolbars.

Any advice?

I was having this problem and then found this thread, nothing worked that people suggested. I tried a couple more google searches and found a solution that worked straight away.

Inserted Video

In the un-docked window, drag the side of it out to the right so that it creates an empty space within the window, then quickly after that's been done you click in the empty space and drag it over to the left of the MT4 screen (where the navigator is etc.) - this will re-dock it. May not work first time (it did for me), but give it a few goes and it should work.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++

Tried this and nothing happened. So I went to the root folders in Crossover--> Bottles, copied the config folder from properly working MT4, and pasted into glitchy MT4. I ended up with duplicate copies of the good one.

Only thing left to do is download fresh copy of MT4. I will post this on Crossover board.
