IMHO, you can study all the past news events you want, but it won't do you any good. There is no way of knowing what the future news will be or what the movement will be until it is announced.

Agreed, the future is the future and nobody can predict it....But with historic news announcements, you can relate the price action to different news...It's something like fundamental backtesting rather than technical backtesting...Knowing how people reacted to certain news in the past and how their reactions affected the price action, can help identify what will be the reaction of people for similar news in the future....

Yeah there is also no way of knowing what future price action will be (unless you have billions in your account) but we still use technical analysis methods based on history... It's all about probabilities.

IMHO, I know you can't predict the future, but the past reaction to the news will not tell you how the future will react. If it is good news or bad news, you can't tell what the price action will be until after the news is released and no past news is going to help because they all react differently each time.

But you can find a certain pattern in traders' behaviour to news and get an edge from it...After all, people are people, and we will react the same way to same actions, almost
