The only server that pops up when I have MT4 up and running is through Interbankfx demo server. I do my trading through them but I downloaded a separate MT4 software and want to get a data feed from someone other than them just for comparative purposes.

Does anyone know - what the default time zone is with the Interbankfx demo? It appears to be GMT which is fine, but I would prefer if I could set it to EST - is this a posibility in MT4?

Thanks in advance.

I've been wondering the same thing as lonespruce. I've searched all over MT4 to try and find a way to set it to my time zone, but so far I've come up empty. I can't find any documentation online that says how to do this either. Every other charting platform I've worked with has this functionality, I would think that MT4 does to. Fine if it doesn't, but it would be nice.

MT4 does not allow you to set your own timezone. The timezone is dependent on the server it's connected to. So, if you're using InterbankFX, it's GMT. Others might use GMT+1 or other timezone.

If you want, I have an indicator that draws vertical lines on your chart at the start of various sessions. This helps me figure out when the US market opens, versus the UK market, etc. Anyway, it's my way of keeping things straight while using GMT time here on the east coast.

Regards,

stockwet

A few people sent me private notes asking for the indicator I mentioned in the previous post. I decided to attach it here.

The only problem is that my code to adjust daylight savings for 2005 doesn't seem to work. It works fine for 2006.

The indicator makes an assumption that the platform is on GMT time. If your platform is different, you'll need to adjust the times in the indicator. The blue line represents the UK open (8AM UK). The red line represents the UK close (5PM UK). The US Open (8 AM EST) is the gray dotted line and the daily open (00:00 GMT) is the dashed gray line.

Regards,

stockwet

I fixed a bug in the file that was previously attached to this original post. The bug was related to making time adjustments for daylight savings time and UK summer time. This new file should work great.

I'm looking at the brokers in the list and so far this one seems to be good (if they make good on their claims that is). No RFQ even in fast markets, guaranteed fills on stop loss, take profit, etc. 3-4 pip spreads on most majors, though no 2 pip spread which is common on eur/usd on other brokers. Though they have better spreads on currency pairs involving euro (which is 3, I usually see it at around 4 or more in other brokers), since they are in Europe. On the downside though their spreads can widen on volatile market conditions. Also, 2% interest p.a. on deposit, oh well better than nothing I guess.

BUMP!

You need to add "North Finance" into the list.

Which of the above MT4 is the better platform for trading news?

Criteria:
1. Fast execution - dont need to wait 5 minutes to gain control of orders
2. No to minimal Slippage
3. fast fill

Does anyone have any suggestions for a broker that allows 400.1 and uses Metatrader?

I'm sure a number of brokers do not have a Sunday bar. One I know for sure is FXDD.
