Obviously somebody has to have a number in order to release it....and you cant trust them and its foolish to think that everyone gets the news at the same time.

If it's governmental data, it it released at the same time for everybody. Other data gathered and compiled by private companies is released 2 min earlier

That's what it looks like when liquidity is removed before a major data release. Spread widens and it looks like someone is buying a lot when really there are no willing sellers at that price anymore so the market moves up. There were 3 major releases at that time.

Contact your broker for more information. Oanda's spread went from 2.3 to 30.0 at this time.

why are people still dealing with oanda the market maker? Its a US broker, anti-hedging, and us brokers have alot of regulations. There are so many better brokers out there from well-regulated countries as well with tight spreads and good execution.

Its very common, most times during high impact news i see 20 spreads on oanda, i see the same sometimes on GFT too and best part their spikes are often not in alignment with most brokers, they have their own quote and spikes which is different from most feeds, and that's why i have avoided market markers since. Such broker are not ideal if you are not swing trader with wider stop loss.

Intra-day and news trading is definitely not good at all.
