Apparently the economy lost 16 billion the last time this happened. This much money could effect the value in the next months to come I think. Does anyone have some keen insight or knowlegde from the last time this happened and the probable affect this could have in the next few months?????

Not yet; but the Bitish are on it much faster than last time, and (supposedly) have both the better management techniques as well as vaccines available to limit the damage. But only time will tell.

For others following this story, note that hoof-and-mouth is not dangerous to people (unlike mad-cow disease, anthrax, some forms of TB, various influenzas, etc...); it's big effect is on the livestock industry directly.

How much does the beef industry contribute to the overall economy in the U.K? The answer to the question will tell you how much of an effect it will have on the Pound.
