Hello

I want to start capturing my trading entry and exit and be able to comment them on the chart. There is a ton of different screen capture. But, Witch one is the proffered one of the traders community?

I'm looking for
- region capture
- Able to use hotkey
- Able to use it with command line would be a plus
- Easy to add text to the picture
- Easy to save to a file with a pre-defined name

- If it is a free tool, I don't want a software that will look in my PC and send data. There is a lot of these one on Google Store.

Any info or opinion?

Martin

I use Camtasia Studio 8.
It has everything you mention plus it has a good compression for youtube

Snipping Tool which is the screen capture tool that comes with Window Vista (I believe) and Window 7

Simple, easy to use, reliable, takes very little memory and/or hard drive space and fits ALL of your criteras below EXCEPT command lines and adding text :

- region capture
- Able to use hotkey
- Able to use it with command line would be a plus
- Easy to add text to the picture
- Easy to save to a file with a pre-defined name

BUT it allows you to copy the screen capture image and if you paste it to Word or Excel, you can add ALL the texts that you ever want to the image.
Make your losses in demo. Earn your profits live.

I use Jing, which is free. Jing, Snagit and Camtasia are all produced by TechSmith.

I also use Kleptomania by Structurise, when I need to extract text from on-screen images, because it has a character recognition facility.

I have Jing and PickPick. I mostly use PickPick. I have tried FastStone in the past. I have not tried SnagIt yet. I might have to now after seeing all the votes for it!

You must try SnagIt.
I love the way it captures the video screenshots when I am attending an online live webinar.

Let us know how that compare with Jing and FastStone.
Thanks!
Have a great weekend.

Thanks, Satch.

I just downloaded and had a play with PicPick. It's free for non-commercial use, and has MANY more features than Jing's free version.

Looks like I won't be using Jing (or MS Paint) any more now.

@arjfca: Let's see how PicPick measures up to your wish list:

I'm looking for
- region capture YES
- Able to use hotkey YES - you can define your own hotkeys (choose Program Options -> Hotkeys)
- Able to use it with command line would be a plus YES - choose Program Options -> About -> Parameters for more info
- Easy to add text to the picture YES
- Easy to save to a file with a pre-defined name YES - can save to PNG, JPG, GIF and other formats
