not a damn thing except for the investment banks and hedge funds/brokers/ect. that speculate in both markets and have obviously set up their computerized trading programs so that the US stock market and the yen currencies pairs track each other.

The correlation coefficient between the two is 1.0, which means that they correlate to a 100% certainty. You cannot have the dow go up without GJ going up.

The us stock market closes in 3 hours 45 minutes. A typical friday, especially in the summer, has the market basically dead for the last 4 hours of the session. However, we have had a couple of very active friday afternoons in the past month or so.

I expect this friday afternoon session to be dead.

I haven't heard of NY closing early on Fridays.

an intraday high for the dow set during the noontime hour. that is different. I shorted at the earlier intraday high and got burned.
