Most of these have been taken from Merlin's original list but I'm willing to add more if you want. Just reply or PM me.

Also do the same if you want to change your mind as you read more books.

As you can see currently mine is van Tharp. Although I haven't read all his stuff yet I think he will be hard to beat for me.

Merlin,

I was thinking this could be a perpetual poll at the top of the forum. Would be interesting to see how it develops after a while.

Remember everyone, let me know if you want to change your vote after you read more books then let me know and I can "edit" your choice.

great thread iso!

my favorite trading author is actually an options guy. his name is Sheldon Natenberg, famed author of "Options Volatility and Pricing".

my second favorite trading author, more applicable to Forex is Fred Gehm, author of "Quantitative Trading and Money Management".
Relax and be happy.

I didn't see my name up there! lol

I actually haven't read a forex book, but I hear they're good reading.

Actually I haven't read anything other than a few PDF's online by people I can't remember now.

Thought the Rob Booker book sounded pretty good though.

Merlin or anyone
can you tell me where can I get information about Forex Options... books...software.. may be some course?
I got some basic info from websites but it's not enough and I'm willing to spend more time and money just to learn more.
Thanks a lot.

read Natenberg's book. i honestly think it's reckless to trade Forex options without reading AND understanding that book first...

he has a good section on currencies in there, there are some nuances to currency options that can get tricky.
Relax and be happy.

I've added Sheldon's name to the list if you haven't already voted. I saw his name from the turtle traders site and his book will figure on my list at some point.

I'm still going through Gehm's book but I'll get to the end eventually. My favourite would be Elder.

Victor Niederhoffer has had the greatest influence on my trading and on my outlook on the markets. I have read the Education of a Speculator thrice and have Practical Speculation ready to be read and re-read (probably). He is an original thinker and statistician (my stats is very poor), but I appreciate his thoughts. I am a regular visitor to the Daily Speculations site and recommed it to all.

Even though this guy has been dead for a long time, Miyamato Mushashi's Book of Five Rings has influenced my trading and research in an abstract way. Miyamato's short book is about sumarai strategy and sword fighting and has been very useful, even though I do not play the mkt as if I am engaging in combat against an opponent - I found this was not a productive approach.

I see that a lot of the big guns here on the forum like van Tharp.

How has he helped your trading? What book would you consider his best?

My library card is heating up.

Maybe some still haven't made up their mind..

I myself have just voted now..

Anyway, I voted Mark Douglas since I'm currently reading his book "Trading in the Zone" and I just love the way he challenges me psychologically, but of course with the help and guidance of Fiji's posts...

My first book was "Trade Your Way...." by Van Tharp and I guess I was just not yet prepared for his book...

After finishing Mark Douglas' book, I'll be re-reading Van Tharp's... So I'm not sure maybe my vote will change.. But for the moment, I vote Douglas..
